Re: Water pump leaking

Hmmm... So I decided to change my impeller two days ago — everything I researched suggested it’s a simple DIY. Figured it was overdue and I am fairly handy, so why not. Looked fine but put in a new OEM Volvo impeller and black (gas) O-ring. Now I have a slight leak. Please tell me I didn’t bugger up...

Re: Non-Exclusionary White Boat thread

The weekend was the first real taste of summer we've had. Wish I was up in Muskoka for it, but my kids' activities kept us in the city. At 72 the water is warmer than I would have expected. I'm happy with anything above 75!

What part of the lake are you on? We're in East Bay near Torrance.

Re: Non-Exclusionary White Boat thread

Beautiful R5. Well done Traveler!

The one photo looks like the dock by Turtle Jack's at Port Carling? We haven't made it to Muskoka yet this summer, but hope to spend some time there in August. By then maybe the water will actually be warm!

Re: Mantus

I have a Mantus and will echo Matt's comment re: tricky to store. Couldn't get mine to fit in the anchor locker, so it sits in my basement cold cellar. Some suggested that I store it under the bow seats, but I'm not keen on moving a large anchor through an area covered in expensive vinyl! After tryi...

Johnny, Welcome aboard! Nice to see another Canadian here on CC. I'm just to the west of you in Richmond Hill. I tried to send you a PM, but I think your account may be restricted until you have a few more posts or have been a member for a few days. Not sure. Try sending me a PM. With respect to the...

Re: Sneaky Wheel

Would a proper 'steering wheel puller' tool help? They're not expensive. Heck, it could be added to the Cobalt Chat community tool shed!

Re: hard start on 5.7gxi

If you think it is the fuel pump issue that is common to Volvos, you may want to check out Man Cave Mechanic (mancavemechanic.com). The guy is an expert on this matter and offers a variety of solutions - new, rebuilt, aftermarket, parts. He also has some helpful content on YouTube. You may want to s...

CC Deal of the Day - 2003 Gentleman's Racer

OK, it isn't a Cobalt, but this is a gorgeous boat. Someone is going to love owning this!! And for a small fraction of what it cost to build.

An interesting read. YT, BB, A7, and AJC will enjoy this!

Re: Mooring Whips...anyone use them?

About 20 years ago we had them at my parents' lake house. They were fantastic for an 18' runabout. Regardless of lake conditions and wind, the boat NEVER touched the dock. The whips were also pretty convenient to use. The biggest challenge was making sure they were anchored (bolted) to a strong, sol...
