Re: 2023 R6 OB - Discount Target?
Tried to PM but messages are stuck in the Outbox. I have a R6 Outboard in Delray Beach. If you want to come over, I'd be glad to take you out in the Intracoastal. I have the Merc 300, am a power guy and have had no issues with being underpowered. If you email me @ kdgangwer@gmail.com I'll reply with...

Re: R6 Outboard Verado true actual length
My R6 Outboard with windlass was measured by the marina @ 28 ft 6 in.

Re: Port-side Boarding Ladder and Flip-up Step
I can take some. I’m in VA and boat is in FL. On my old Sea Ray, the flip down boarding hoop had a grab bar on the transom to assist. Cobalt sent the dealer some grab bars but didn’t recommend installing them as it would void the warranty due to the aft platform not being designed for them. I am gra...

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Went to the S. Florida dealer today to check on my Sof Trac situation. Replacement still on order from April. Salesman told me they will not order Sof Trac on any new bots because of the failure rate. Told him I’d write to Cobalt to add fuel to the fire. Thousands of premium dollars for an inferior ...

Re: Port-side Boarding Ladder and Flip-up Step
Just got back from a week in Key West. Boat is just over a year old and this was the first anyone went into the water. Thank goodness that I had the port-side boarding ladder! Only way I’d have made it aboard with the flip-up step would have been with a rope tied to the stern cleat. Had I gone into ...

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to be diplomatic & work through the dealer who has been fantastic. It is a pain in the butt, though, as I keep the boat dry stacked, have to get the trailer & pull the boat out each time....kind of defeats the dry stack game plan! I'll keep the site posted ...

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Greetings, Turned the boat over to the dealer for Sof-Trac repair. Picked-up the boat only to find two sections already failing! It is clearly heat related as two more panels began failing as I cleaned the boat in the sun prior to dry stacking. I know I'm not the only guy in South Florida with a Cob...

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
I'm working with my dealer on the mat issue. Interestingly, it is only the forward 5 sections that are problematic. Everything aft and the swim platform are fine.

Re: R6 Outboard FL to VA Trip Report
If you get around to moving your bow stop forward, let us know how that fish-tailing issue is affected. I'm guessing it'll be gone. I'm in contact with the dealer about the trailer. The trailer has a "R6" handwritten sticker. I wonder if the center of gravity is aft on the outboard as opp...

Re: R6 Sof Trac Failing
Thanks for the replies. It does appear to be drawing-in (shrinkage) and the adhesive is letting go on the edges. My last boat was a carpeted Sea Ray and I didn't have any problems. Even if it is under warranty, I wonder if the next iteration would do the same thing? Does anyone have bare fiberglass ...

R6 Sof Trac Failing
I thought I would get seagrass but my wife liked Sof Trac at the boat show. Paid the premium and got Sof Trac stem to stern. The boat has been mostly dry stacked but sat in my driveway for the last week. When I hopped on today to take it to its new dry stack home in VA, here's what I found: tempImag...

R6 Outboard - Water in the Bilge
On delivery day prior to launch, I wondered about Garmin sonar and pulled the centerline storage bin to check the transducer model. This was my view. tempImageAXLQHS.gif Nice and clean if not a little wet. I figured the dealer washed her and that there was a bit of residual water. Sitting at anchor ...

Re: R6 Outboard FL to VA Trip Report
BBP, Bow strap is loose because the boat is going to set (against neighborhood rules) in my driveway for a few days until I take her to a dry stack marina. Trust me, that strap was tight as a drum on the road and will be snug for the short drive to her new home. Regarding the safety strap; my unders...

Re: R6 Outboard FL to VA Trip Report
I power load when allowed, a lot of ramps don’t allow it because it washes out the end of the ramps. If you are getting any fish tailing at all with an F250 you don’t have enough tongue weight, slide the boat stop forward to add tongue weight . I run set the cruise at 80 running down the freeway wi...

Re: R6 Outboard FL to VA Trip Report
Great looking boat, would really like to see a few more pics! When I load my boat on the trailer, I usually power load to about 6" to a foot from the bow stop. It's gentle enough, then I winch the rest of the way. I know some ramps are not long, and power loading can really erode the area at t...
