Re: R5 - R6 Performance Numbers

I say keep your old boat with the small block! Specs and boater magazine shows it's a full 1.85 secs faster on plane and and a good 3.65mph faster on top end. Proof or it didn't happen. I'll need you to pull the 2007 Issue of Boater Magazine out of your archives and show me the Cobalt 222 Test Resu...

Re: R5 - R6 Performance Numbers

Brining this one back to life. We are looking at a possible R5 upgrade. I love the idea of the big block, assuming BBP will let me join the club, I believe there is an admission process, forms to fill out, may even be a vote to get in. That said BobRae it looks like the 8.2 Merc/Bravo 3X combo is th...

Re: How could we let this happen?

Didn't Cobalt try this? Believe they were making Marker One boats in TN for a bit but decided that the quality of the boats produced in Kansas was far superior? Think they told us that during the factory tour? End of an Era. FormulaChat.com? Agree. Time to update your signature! Nothing is official...

Re: Towing an R5 Arch Down

Samson, who make the arches for Cobalt, told me that they do not recommend towing with the arch down. YMMV. Exactly what I needed, thank you. I would not trust the locking mechanism that keeps the arch down. It is only locked on one side and it is springed wanting to go in the up position. I can on...

Towing an R5 Arch Down

Long time no talk Cobalt Chat friends.

Have a question.....for a friend.....I understand the R series Arch will lock in the folded down position.

Is it ok to tow the boat with the arch locked down?

Anyone do it for short distances?

I'll hang up and listen.

Re: trailer compatability

I have a 2010 Cobalt 232. I would like to order a a Sport Trail trailer. I know they built a trailer for an R3 (2017, I think). Does anyone know if the hull shapes are compatible? I like the idea personally. Probably save a few hundo over a 232 trailer. Even if the chines don’t line up, and it rest...

Re: trailer compatability

I think what our friend BBP is trying to say is that trailers are generally built for specific boats. ....... And you don't question BBP. . why not...bruce does. ;) ...and good to hear from you nautis. 8-) . Who's Bruce? 😂😂😂😂🃏 I believe he posts here from time to time. If I remember correctly he se...

Re: trailer compatability

I think what our friend BBP is trying to say is that trailers are generally built for specific boats. While you may think a 232 looks a lot like an R3 in fact the dimensions of the hulls are different. I would call loadmaster and ask them to quote a trailer. They provided us several good options whe...

2003 Cobalt 240. Current setup is a Sony HU, six 6.5" Sony speakers. one Rockford Fosgate M 500, 5 channel amp, and two 10" Rockford Fosgate subs. Here's what I want to do. Change out HU to a Rockford Fosgate 2.7" Digital media Receiver - PMX-5CAN with two wired remotes (one at helm,...

Box anchor isnt the right tool for the job. If you are going to do it at least use a real anchor. I would recommend a fortress. Others on the forum would agree.
