Re: Ideal rope length for wakeboard
Old thread but still wondering... I don't know the difference between wake surfing and wake boarding. My nephew rides a wakeboard. He likes to jump the wake which is taller the closer to the boat he gets. Is it really super dangerous 25' behind the boat? In an emergency stop the boat would still tak...

Re: Boat Capacity
14 people is way different in calm seas than it is navigating big wakes.

Re: R5 Swim Platform Speakers
The carry of the speakers is surely subjective and how much can you really expect from a pair of 8" (?) speakers but I think they sound good (I'm told by SO to turn them down all the time.) They do have a separate volume control.
Re: R8
What I don't get about the outboards is that it takes all of the swim platform. I mean, for a fishing boat sure but a runabout?

Re: anchor chain
I'm in the paint camp. Sure it wears off but it's either in the water or the anchor locker so I don't see it.

Re: Cobalt R7 Windlass Bail
I bet the screws came loose and off it came. I'm sure the OP will chime in and tell us for sure. I have tightened both of those screws a number of times.

A fix for the built in cooler
I've seen lately a lot of comments about how unhappy people are about the built in cooler in the R5. I had the same complaint the first time I used it. The concept is great, it is a great use of space and holds a ton of ice and drinks but wouldn't keep things cold all day. The issue as I see it is t...

Re: R30 twin 350 vs 380.
Love my 6.2 - 380 - very torquey motor and I only have one! If the Merc doesn't have the quick drain that would be a deal breaker for me.

Re: R5 Size - Used Market - Misc ?'s
Just finished up several days at LOTO. At one point we had full capacity of 14. In small chop never felt overloaded. On Saturday it would have been more hairy with a full load. Make Party Cover Again was happening on Saturday and I happened to be coming around the corner around dinner time. We had 1...

Ideal rope length for wakeboard
I have been using a standard ski rope to tow wakeboarders behind my non-surf R5. Someone I know mentioned shortening the rope to get closer to the "sweet" spot of the wave. I would be interested to hear ideas here of the ideal length of the rope and how close could you get and still be safe.

Re: rough ride
Caution putting the trim tabs down in rough water. A couple weeks ago I was overtaking a boat and crossing its wake, not entirely at a right angle but as close to 90% as normal. Trim tabs fully down. The boat rolled on its side pretty dramatically. The bow being down must have caught the wake and in...
