Re: Engine Hatch wont open
Two stout men can raise the hatch manually, but not one (unless he's a gorilla). My 292 uses hydraulics, and I'm not sure what your boat uses,, but if you have hydraulic lifts, be sure the fluid chamber is at the mark; they have a way of sneaking down without evidence of fluid in the bilge. I doubt ...

Re: Why not add a Supercharger?
I put a Whipple on my 2001 Chevy Suburban tow vehicle back in 2000, when my truck was new. The only other mods were to make the exhaust free flow. The vehicle had enormous torque, in fact the only problem I've had is breaking transmission input shafts. I finally found a hardened one that has lasted....

Re: One of two hour meters is not working
I have a nice Fluke automotive multimeter, so I can check for 12V anywhere. Will do, and thanks to you both.

One of two hour meters not working
1999 292 with less than 300 hours Twin 350s with bravo 3s
My starboard engine hour meter has not worked for some time; the port meter works fine. Thoughts? I THINK the meter is fed from the coil, but am not sure. Should I try to trace the circuit or replace the meter?

Re:Another New member at Lake of the Ozarks
Here's is another Lake of the Ozarks owner. We are at the 11 mile marker, We have a white/blue trim 292 with twin 350s and dual props on each. 290 hours and beautifully kept by former owner. No trailer, but a great boat lift. Still getting used to twin engines after a lifetime of single outboards, b...

Ski Pylon
I have a 292 with twin 350s, and I'm looking for a place to mount a ski pylon. Too low and the rope is the water jerking the rider around, but none of the high places near the stern seem very well reinforced for the stress of slalom skiing. I'm thinking of bonding some strong material just being the...

Re: Towing capacity of various vehicles
I've towed boats from 200 to 15,000 pounds over the years. I'd follow the manufacturer's recommendations for several reasons: 1). they work 2). Liability. If you wreck and are towing more than capacity you've got an insurance problem for sure, and maybe a problem with the law. Towing capacities not ...

Re: Hydraulics
Thanks for the info, gentlemen, I think I'm go electric as well; it seems to me that lifting that rear seat assembly is quite enough for the hydraulic pump.
Did either of you do the work yourself? If so, how hard was it? I have twin engines on the 290 and there is some room, but not a lot!

Hydraulics
As you probably know, the rears seat lift and trim tabs are on the same hydraulic system and pump (at least on my '99 290). The O rings on my trim tab cylinders are leaking fluid, so it needs constant refilling or the rear seat won't lift, allowing m access to the engines. The trim tabs are made by ...

Re: Vinyl & Gel Coat Maintenance
Here at the Lake of the Ozarks, even a week in the water creates a brown stain on the gelcoat that is in the water. West Marine sells a product called Hull Cleaner, and we found that it saved a huge amount pf time getting that stain off. Wax afterward if you can.
