Re: R3 - engine size
I have the VP350 in our 2019 R3. It's top end is a bit higher than with the 300HP version, but if you look at the HP/Torque curves for both engines, if memory serves, they are the same up to 4,00RPM after which the 350 continues to climb and the 300 flattens out. I think you would be fine with the 3...

Re: R6 Surf Transom Tie Downs
Looks like there was space to move that trim tab a bit to the right - not sure why the guy bolting them on didn't see what we all seem to see... It looks like the angle that the hydraulic ram is on, it is already pretty tight at the top end. It might not install correctly if the tab was moved over ...

Re: R7 hesitates when shifting to reverse
Looks like Volvo introduced "silent shift" in 2019 so your boat won't have it. I have a 2019 R3 that was produced before "silent shift" was introduced, but I'm pretty sure my controls is "fly by wire". I think the 2018 models were was well. I believe "Silent Shift...

Re: rough ride
I agree with some of the earlier posts. Cobalt is focusing on a lake environment and surfing in particular. Too bad, missing a huge market on the coast. Do you think so? It seems to me that it's the very opposite: Cobalt is going hard after the coastal market, which explains all the outboard models...
R8
I was shocked to learn that you can order an R8 OB with 2 Merc or Yamaha outboards. That is 600HP. Does anyone have on equipped that way? I'd love to hear how it performs! BR

Re: Purchasing Discounts
Reviving this thread. My dealer has a build slot in December for January delivery. The discount is better than on my 2019 R3, dealer offering around 24.5% and the same trade value for my 95 hour R3 as I was offered 18 months ago (it had 70 hours then). I wonder if with higher interest rates, consum...

Re: CS23 w/ VP 280 DP - enough power?
My 210 is a bit heavier than a CS23, so probably similar in demand placed on an engine. I found that having the dual prop outdrive made the biggest difference when I was comparison shopping, but back then the Volvo 225 and 300 were the same 5.7l V8 engine except for the ECU on the 300 being set to ...

Re: Trim sender on a 2019 VP380?
I’ve tried to start my VP350 (2019 R3) with the outdrive trimmed up and got the same no start with beep. After putting the outdrive fully down the engine started and the auto trim operated normally.

Re: R3 On Trailer Length?
Excavate down? That’s exactly what I did for a few summers with my R5. I have a gravel floor in my shed so every spring I would just use a skid loader to dig the gravel down 6” in one of the door openings. Then after the boat was put to bed for the winter I would fill the hole back up until spring....

Re: R3 On Trailer Length?
Heard back from Loadmaster. An R3 keel sits about 20" from the ground on a Loadmaster trailer which means the total height with the tower down is 114" or 9.5'. The boat can't sit any lower as the hull is already only inches from the fenders. They can reduce the size of the wheels by adding...

Re: R3 On Trailer Length?
@ bean, Can you confirm your door height? And if you still have the boat on the trailer, can I talk you into measuring the distance from the keel of the boat to the floor (maybe no so easy to do). Cobalt just confirmed that the keel to folded tower height of an R3 is 7' 10". So, if the keel is...
