Re: Blown Motor VP 380
Yea most likely since I believe my R5 was one of the few built with that motor and cannot they were all black. The 520 and the XR drive I had had no issues. I thought about the mercury xhaust system but decided against it because I didn’t want to kill the sound permanently since it sounds soooooo go...

Re: Blown Motor VP 380
The blue motor was awesome. Turned heads everywhere but I’m happier with the bigger boat. I’ve been told by dealer than my engine will be brand new and is actually being built and will be a 2020 build and will have new software. My engines were 2019 builds and I was told they will have to update the...

Re: Blown Motor VP 380
I assume it dropped a valve and a rod went through but I should know more soon. The 520 was a great motor, never had any issues and it doesn’t require much different maintenance that the reg 8.2. It should also last as long. My old R5 is actually being sold to a close friend of mine. Also cobalt onl...

Re: Blown Motor VP 380
Yes I’m certainly a JG fan too. I loved my R5 with the 520. I believe I had one of the few ever made. Owned it for 3 years. Was a 65mph boat. Didn’t have the hole shot of the newer VPs but above 3k rpm it just took off like nuts and sounded amazing. Probably was it was loud, always. I installed swit...

Re: Blown Motor VP 380
plus, every alarm chirp on the Garmin system was going crazy and you would also have to like the smell of burning motor oil. The bilge was full of oil. I'm hoping they get it fixed up quickly. They did offer a loaner but they don't have any other A36's....

Re: Blown Motor VP 380
Yea i'm blown away (pun intended) that this would happen. I had the merc racing motor in my r5 and ran it hard and never an issue. here is a pic of the boat and a picture of the engine compartment showing the aftermath of the blow up.

Blown Motor VP 380
Hi All. About a month ago, I took delivery of a new A36BR with twin Volvo 380s. This is my third cobalt. I had a R5 with the mercury racing 520 and an R3 with the same VP 380. My A36 has 22 hours on it. Yesterday, I was throttling up and cruising at around 40 mph and bang, something broke and one of...
