Re: Ballast errors on R8 Surf
Yes, I'd mention to your dealer that you heard the Volvo Penta software update results in Surf software issues. I believe they need to reinstall the Surf software, but they should know the solution.

Re: Ballast errors on R8 Surf
Did you recently get the Volvo Penta software upgrade (that was described in a letter sent in the mail)? Well, I did.. and this apparently messed with the surf software in my R8S. Luckily, after I contacted the dealer they got it fixed same week but it's something to be aware of. Here are the errors...

Re: Lenco Trim Tabs
I found this thread by searching "actuator" due to the fact my 2022 R8S had an actuator break off from the hull. Luckily I noticed it while swimming behind the boat. Zero clue why this would happen as I almost never use my trim tabs. The dealer said they need to pull the boat and haul it 9...

Re: R8 Surf 1st Captain's Report
Welcome aboard! I'm also a R8S newcomer. Only main issue I've had is a faulty (non-configured) fuel meter that almost left me stranded. Hopefully your dealer configured it before delivery but if they didn't, keep an eye on it!

Re: Fuel gauge not working on R5 Surf
Had this happen on my 2022 R8 Surf yesterday. Gauge was showing 50% but literally 5 minutes later it dropped to 3% and we were 6 miles from the marina. While heading back to the marina the gauge jumped to 33% while under way. Upon arrival at the marina and slowing to no wake speed the gauge showed 0...

I enjoyed your post JL02. Beautiful boat, I’m sure you’ll enjoy. We also just took delivery, of a 2022 R6 Surf at Possum Kingdom. This forum has been and continues to be super helpful. From the time we got a confirmed build date to delivery was about 7 weeks. The build date was confirmed about 4 mo...

Re: Joined the Cobalt Family - 2022 R8 Surf
Beautiful boat! Our R8 surf went into production on April 5. They are telling us first week of June. I am not sure if this is when it will be completed at the factory (which would be 8 weeks to build it) or if it will be shipped and at the dealer the first week of June. Do you know how long it took...

Re: Snap OR Mooring Cover
We tuck inside tower, but only at the tower. The goal is to be quick as possible. I got one that fits length wise and width wise. The elastic all the way around holds it under the swim platform. On the bow, I tie the included straps down through the towing eye, or whatever it's called, to hold fron...

Re: Joined the Cobalt Family - 2022 R8 Surf
The ceramic coating will definitely help with the water spots. We give ours a quick wipe down every time we put it up on the lift. Takes my son in law about 5 minutes (it’s his main job!). Are you new to surfing? I grew up waterskiing (with 2 skis or kneeboards) back in the ancient 80's-90's, haha!...

Re: Joined the Cobalt Family - 2022 R8 Surf
. Nice jl02! That's the way you do it. So glad you found us my friend. You can always add tower speakers later if you feel the need. Once we added ours I'm not sure I would go back to not having them...especially if water sports is your thing. That's all we do for the most part. How about a pic of ...

Been waiting about 6 months to post these pics while enjoying the forum. Finally took delivery of our first Cobalt, an R8 Surf. :D Went with the 430 engine. Platinum sound without the tower speakers. We're not really loud music people and my son and I are tall and appreciate the extra headroom. Didn...
