Re: New to me 2006 272
If I'm not mistaken the charger should be wired directly to the battery. I think you would be ok to leave it in any position except the 1+2 position.

Re: 7.4 hard start after sitting
UPDATE. We spent the last week at loto and happy to report back that didn't have any starting issues the whole time down there. I was worried since temps were going to be over 100 each day. I think cleaning the flame arrestor helped some, but I think the main issue that was resolved was not flooding...

Re: 7.4 hard start after sitting
I haven’t thought about that. I purchased the boat after it had been in storage for the winter. It has half a tank in it when we first filled it up. Since then I’ve put a mix between 91 and 87 with no ethanol in it. Or so they said. If it wasn’t treated than hopefully I’m getting out of that older g...

Re: 7.4 hard start after sitting
A little bit of an update. I borrowed a buddys muffs and tried a start last night. So it had been sitting approx 24 hours. After doing a little more digging I had thought that maybe I was flooding it to begin with as well. I did the couple primes and had it running in a couple revolutions. I did hav...

Re: 7.4 hard start after sitting
Thoughts on using a low volume low pressure electric fuel pump in line of the original lift pump?

Re: 7.4 hard start after sitting
"hard start issue." Can you describe what's happening? Slow crank or what? I'm guessing normal crank when it's been sitting, but hard to fire. Then slow crank (and hard to fire) after hot run. Without more info, sounds like vapor lock. What are you doing with the throttle before and durin...

That bilge looks good enough to eat off of. Looking good!

7.4 hard start after sitting
So just to start this is my first carbureted engine in anything. After sitting a week it starts hard which I think has to do with the drain back issue. This isn’t too big of an issue starting off. The other issue is that if I run for a while, get to full operating temp and shut off for more than say...

Re: 4th of July aspirations
I saw that video and almost didn't make it to the huge explosion at the end. Had a similar thing happen to my family. Saturn missiles got turned over and started shooting into back of the vehicle that had multiple bags of other fireworks in. Luckily we got the hatch closed before something like the ...

Re: July 2022 Pictures
Not a cobalt and not me. Happened right in front of us. They had a roller trailer and had the winch unlatched. Rolled right off. They ended up getting it back on the trailer and went ahead and put it in the water. Only real damage I could see was that it was pretty hard on the trim tabs. I felt like...

Re: 1999 Cobalt 232 restoration
Hey thanks for the follow up. I saw on your 292 it looked like you had possibly used some starboard to mount the transducer to the transom. Did you use 5200 for that? Any special prep to make that permanent?

I’ve had a similar experience but not on a boat jumping barbed wire fence when I was younger. One pant leg didn’t make it.
