Re: 1998 Fender Holders

Update: Crafted some fabric ones. Used some plywood to make the flange. And my wife used the old tubes to pattern a fabric replacement. Re: 1998 Cobalt 220

Quick update on the stalling issue: I had a mechanic look at it, he noticed the engine was never coming up to temp. The thermostat was stuck open. Not getting to operating temp was causing the computer to adjust the fuel mixture. Replaced the thermostat and took it out yesterday, I got another 700 R...

Re: 1998 Cobalt 220

skno, thanks for the pointer, those do look nice and at a reasonable price. Krob1114, I went against your advice and removed the remaining floor carpet buttons (about 1/4 were missing anyway). I was motivated after stepping on one yet again barefooted. I did save them, but probably going to add some...

Re: 1998 Fender Holders

Here’s some pictures of what came with mine. 1998 DP Outdrive O-Rings

As you may have seen in my other post, I recently serviced the out-drive for my new-to-me 1998 220, 5.0, DP. I first used the larger o-ring 3855081 that also fits the middle vent hole. This o-ring promptly tore before I even got the bolt all the way into the drain hole. I then ordered the smaller o-...

Re: 1998 Fender Holders

So I was able to find a bumper holder lid on eBay, which is useful, and I might end up buying one, but I’m looking for the tube that lives below this lid. I looked through all 45 plus pages on eBay. The tube is plastic and hangs below the lid in front of the windshield. Picture of the lid: eBay Lid ...

Looks great! Color matches, too.

I’m thinking of doing mine, you’re motivation to go ahead.

1998 Fender Holders

Model: 1998 220 This model has the fender wells in front if the windshields. One of the plastic fender cylinder containers was broke off at the rim (top) and missing. The other one is cracked at the rim and barely holding on. I know its minor, but I like the idea. Any suggestions for replacements? I...

Re: 1998 Cobalt 220

I posted in the “How fast can you trailer your Bimini?” post that mine pulled off the front windshield mounting point. The screw pulled out of the aluminum frame, probably just due to years of vibration and stress. We are thinking of using this as an opportunity to upgrade to a 4 bow Bimini. Any sug...

Re: 1998 Cobalt 220

Replaced the impeller. Old vs. New:

New fuel/water separator. Changed the outdrive lube using the VP brand. Only thing is I didn’t have the correct drain o-ring so I’ll get that ordered this week and install it prior to the next use.

Re: How Fast Can You Trailer w/Bimini?

Yesterday, I had mine up, but stowed in the cover, while trailering. Ripped the front bracket off the windshield, and pulled, twisted the rear bracket in the gel coat/fiberglass. I even had the cover strapped with bungees. I’ve seen others do it, I towed with it up in the cover once and now have dam...

Yes, that’s what I meant. The impeller will be here tomorrow. It’ll be replaced before I use it again.
I’ll also replace the fuel/water separator.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: 1998 Cobalt 220

Replace your impeller before you use it unless it's been recently done.. Platform is the best thing to add to a boat other than stainless steel cup holders with leds👍 Yep, I’ve got one ordered, it’ll be here Friday. $650 on tires today hurt a little. Engine and drive oil next week or week after. Be...

1998 Cobalt 220

Purchased a 1998 Cobalt 220 last Saturday, 2 Jul 22. It has the 5.0 dual-prop. 220.JPG Disclaimer: I haven't searched this forum extensively, so I will probably mention things here that have been answered/discussed already. You'll see in the pictures that it needs a good buff, polish, and wax, but i...
