US Exporter for 2016 R5 Mooring Cover ?

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that might be able to supply and ship to Australia a full mooring cover for our 2016 R5? I can go via a local distributor but the price seems very high and I would end up paying extra shipping - US to Australia and from the distributor to me. Th...

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

It seems like replacing the water pump did the trick - the weather has been bad since so I have only had a short run to check it but so far so good :)

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

Thanks for the extra thoughts ...

The mechanic came out today and poked about a bit - the conclusion is that the bearing on the water pump has failed and the shaft is starting to slide out; at least I think that is what he tried to explain to me :)

He tells me the pump will need replacing.

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

I wonder if this is your drive input shaft tearing up your coupler. Thanks, I hope not! The boat is new to us - we picked it up after being anti-fouled and having had a service on everything that needs working on while the boat was out of the water. So the leg, impeller whatever else they n...

Ha, thanks but not for me!

If this were cooking instead of mechanical repairs I would say that I can just about boil water :D

And more seriously, I have trouble seeing much less getting to that area of the motor ...

Thanks for the idea but that is well beyond my knowledge and skill - I can just about manage to check fluid levels ;)

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

Yes, thanks - understood :D I started the engine just briefly this morning to try to localise the sound a little better. The sound is louder - now more of a squeak, maybe coming from about half way down the starboard side of the motor, nearer to the top. I tried to jiggle the pulleys but they seem f...

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

Thanks, much appreciated. The engine has done 155hrs and launch year was 2016. I can't do anything about a faulty flapper ( the mechanic would need to look at that ) but I might be able to look at the belt tensioner bracket if the manual will tell me where it is and if I can get to it beneath the Se...

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

Thanks for the reply. No I can't figure out where it is coming from. With the cover down it is loudest at the cockpit drain near the engine compartment. With the cover up it seems to be coming from the engine - maybe the front but not sure. Not really sure about change with engine speed. When I firs...

Re: Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

We went for a short cruise at near idle < 750rpm. The noise has become louder and changed again. Two files, the first with the cover down the second with it up. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gjmh3ugx6pla93l/engine%20noise%20-%20cover%20down.m4a?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/zo5osfd9nowi14h/engine%20noi...

Engine noise - a serious problem or not?

Hey Guys I am hopeless and don't know anything about motors so I'm wondering if any of you have an idea what this noise might be: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vivlh0cyj200t01/Engine-noise.m4a?dl=0 Mercruiser 6.2 Seacore running at idle It has been getting louder and now there is a bit of a squeak as we...

Re: Our new ( first ) Cobalt has arrived!

Thank you! I think I might like your winters, at least for short while - we have pretty boring mild weather here; perhaps a bit hot in summer but definitely no snow in winter! Perhaps the nearest comparison might be coastal weather in southern California. I'm told October and November are the windy ...

Re: 2016 R5 Electric Head - valve location?

Thanks for the extra info. I don't know if the previous owner every used the overboard discharge ( they were in saltwater and once far enough outside the heads they might have pumped it out ) but really, I just needed to know where it is so I could make sure any sea-cock is turned off - we are in fr...
