Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!
Stumbled across this thread...interesting to see what everyone tows with! This is my "tow rig"...original retirement plan was a heavy 5th wheel. After buying the truck in 2016, the EX-WIFE decided she didn't want to be "stuck" in the cab with me for weeks at a time. :roll...

Re: BRAVO 3 OUTDRIVE GEAR LUBE LEAK
Thanks for the prompt reply and sorry for such a long post, I know it is a bit too long...I read too many that do not have all relative info and see too many threads with more questions than answers. Was trying not to be that guy. First sentence...512 hours and, unfortunately, I don't have any recor...

Re: Strong Gas Smell After Refueling
Like Matt said, boats don't have an EVAP system like modern cars, so your fuel does vent to atmosphere. Little fuel smell, especially after filling up or uncovering if your cover goes over the vents, is not uncommon. If it was me I would make sure to run the blower before starting and at idle speed...

BRAVO 3 OUTDRIVE GEAR LUBE LEAK
2005 Cobalt 263 496 Mag Bravo 3, bought at the end of February with 512 hrs from a Cobalt dealer in Grand Rapids, MI...seller bought a new boat and sold this through the shop on consignment. I didn't receive any maintenance records from the previous owner, however the boat had been serviced at this ...

Re: Bimini on 2013 262
Based on the claim on their website, I believe it was RNR-Marine. They have some shipping restrictions to Australia on their customer service webpage...specifically, "We do not ship T-Tops or OEM canvas out of the United States (and Boat-Covers only to the UK and Australia)." I attached th...

Re: Questions about 262s, 272s and 282s
Finding the right boat can be daunting. We started the search for our 263 in July last year. At that time, we could only find seven for sale nationwide (on Craigslist and the boat sale websites). We live outside of the San Francisco Bay Area and our options were Seattle, Michigan and the East Coast....

Re: Cobalt 262/263 - Docking Lights & Stern Navigation Light
Thank you for the link...that does sound like a hoot! The "old" MR16 bulb in your replacement docking lights looks to be the same halogen bulb used in the original cabin reading lights. The bezel was missing on one of my cabin lights when I bought the boat in February, so I replaced both c...

Re: Cobalt 262/263 - Docking Lights & Stern Navigation Light
. We replaced our halogen lights with led docking lights. I’ll see if I can find the thread. Pretty easy swap really. We have the required navigation lights on the bow for port and starboard indications and the required 360 degree white light on our arch. Our previous 2002 262 had the extendable an...

Cobalt 262/263 - Docking Lights & Stern Navigation Light
Hey gang. Continuing with my list of small "projects" while researching the bigger ones (throttle/shift controls & drive lube leak among them)... DOCKING LIGHTS. Yesterday I removed the backside of one of the docking lights to see if the bulb could be updated to LED. The short answer i...

Re: 2005 263 Remote Controls (Throttle/Shift Lever)
I'm also surprised to hear this. Is this a Merc specific thing? My current and last boats both have/had Volvo's, and there is a very obvious click/catch into neutral. I'm wondering if it's just a different shifter design @ the helm, and one could see if a new model has the same feel or better. IF t...

Re: 2005 263 Remote Controls (Throttle/Shift Lever)
"Difficult to believe that Merc (or Cobalt) didn't have gear position indicators . . ." When getting into neutral, you can't hear or feel a faint click? Is there a neutral button on your throttle? I had similar issues with an old Merc throttle. Installed a new one with fresh cable. Proble...

Re: 2005 263 Remote Controls (Throttle/Shift Lever)
. Tough to diagnose this on the internet. On the Merc shifter it is not very obvious where the neutral location is. You can feel a slight change but it may be more helpful if you put it in neutral, make a line using a Sharpie aligned with the forward part of the shift lever and another at the aft l...

2005 263 Remote Controls (Throttle/Shift Lever)
With my "Engine Does Not Crank" issue resolved I am on to my next "concern," the throttle/shift lever feels "numb"...by that I mean, when moving the lever forward and back, there is almost no detectable "feel" for the neutral position. In fact, there are two l...

Re: 2005 263 - Engine Does Not Crank With Ignition Key
"I went out to try to jumper across . . ." Very clever diagnosis. Congratulations on solving the mystery. I was elated when the engine turned over. Are you getting power to the starter when you try to crank it. If not, there is no reason to release the parts cannon with unnecessary parts ...
