For sale 2012 Cobalt 243

Hey guys, with a heavy heart I have to turn away from boating for a while due to family needs. Just when you think you have everything figured out, life loves throwing those curveballs at you. With that, I posted my 2012 Cobalt 243 for sale. I bought it last year from a MD Cobalt Dealer and have pou...

Re: Adding Vessel View to 2012 243

kbloom, Thanks for the response, I'm not sure the mercury screen can do charting... I will have to investigate, I also think the mercury screen is more money over the basic simrad option that's compatible. I would do the mobile option, but I would rather put the money towards a chart plotter :) MajorD

Adding Vessel View to 2012 243

Good morning everyone. I picked up a 2012 Cobalt 243 a few weeks ago and have some big plans for it; one of them being adding vessel view and a simrad chart plotter (going simrad because it works best with kicker radio NMEA programming for radio controls) The boat has the 8.2 mercruiser - 380 hp mod...

Re: Unknown part/door Cobalt 243 Cuddy 2013

Just picked up a 243 on Friday, and just like Nauti Weasel advised- that is a platform that slides into the netting on the port side of the engine. Mine has clips on it to secure the towing pylon and anchor light on it.

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

After jumping through a dozen hoops, tomorrow is the big day!

How you you guys and gals feel about a warranty? The dealership offers a warranty that covers the big mechanical items… but it’s salty $5500 for three years, no deductible…
Worth it?

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Hey everyone! Thanks for all the wonderful information. I will likely be joining the Cobalt family tomorrow, but just not with the 263. I went and looked at the 2012 243 that’s only an hour or so from my house that I shared in an earlier post. It’s in great shape overall. Needs some wax on the exter...

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Well everyone, I pulled the plug on the deal with the gentleman selling the 2001 263… couldn’t iron out the logistics… but I just happened across a 2012 243 less than two hours from me ;)

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Twoduckdad,

I did a lot of Jiatf south patrols. Counter Narcotics and Migrant interdiction. Seen some crazy ish around the South American coastal waters.

Of course I was involved in my fair share of SAR cases too 😬

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Well I might have been mistaken on the swim platform, I thought I saw it on greatlakesskipper.com but now revisiting to copy and paste a hyperlink, I can’t find it. Either they sold it already, I saw it somewhere else, or I was looking at something different altogether. The princess pad would be eas...

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Kate,

Just guessing here; water is wet and dirt is dirty?

Most puddles I’ve been in check both 🤣

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Whippled263 I have some stereo items picked out already ($8000 worth of items in my "Dream" shopping cart on crutchfield currently), Audio is one of my life long passions. Also have my eyes set on a wake tower by big air, called Cuda and their bimini - they also have some pretty nice Speak...

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

Chris, I’ll definitely have to ask - thanks for pointing those missing items out! And great points about the water intrusion through the bow windows…. This is exactly why I came onboard the forum, all great points and advice. Can’t thank you all enough. I’m not sure if I want to go carpet route or n...

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

There will be a sea trail if it passes my visual inspection. He stores the boat right next to lake cumberland (Cumberland lake?). He has all the maintenance records from him and the previous owner as well going back almost 10 years of its life. Kate, point noted on the shutdown and restart. Twoduckd...

Re: Input needed from 263 owners

I appreciate the input. I agree on a marine surveyor - recently had to use one because my CG Spidey senses were tingling when I went and looked a boat prior to this one. It was a different brand of boat that I am significantly more familar with though, and I knew right away that the stringers were l...
