Re: Winter Projects
ouch. We just have to find Aslan his next "downsize" boat. Maybe something like https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/boa/d/minneapolis-gps-porcelien-toilet/7685556502.html ;) . That link is not loading for some reason JMD, but yes, just a momentary break as we contemplate our next vesse...

Re: rough ride
Seems like perhaps there's an opportunity to refresh the A series as a deep-vee luxury boat and keep the R series as a shallower-vee watersports boat?

KAS, no we don't, but we can cover costs now with the ad revenue we get. Some members shut their ad blockers off for Cobaltchat and ignore the ads (although it looks like some click on them occasionally as well, which pays a LOT better).

Re: Winter Projects
I have a new panel with a Fusion remote control waiting to go in my boat as soon as it comes out of hibernation (April or May?). I don't really have access to the boat during the winter, so projects are generally limited to preparing things external to the boat for boating season. The new panel turn...

Re: New server and hosting company
Thanks - seems to be a good move so far. And I don't know a whole lot about Temu, but they seem to be winning ad bids on our site quite a bit and are in essence paying for a significant portion of our hosting. Feels a bit odd not to have boat insurance, boat supplies, and the like around quite as mu...

The Garmin (Navionics) app is pretty powerful if you don't need it to sense anything about your boat (e.g., show you sonar, control your stereo, report on engine status, etc.). It works by downloading the map ahead of time so you don't need cell coverage or WiFi when out on the water. There's more i...

New server and hosting company
We transitioned from Bluehost to Knownhost on 2023-12-04, and were available but locked for new postings for a couple hours in the early afternoon. Our new server has allows us two processors and more memory, better support, and unlimited storage for attachments (we were starting to approach Bluehos...

The seat repair kit is a great way to fix (or stabilize) a poor choice of materials on Cobalt's behalf - well worth looking at if your seat has problems.

Re: HELP! With my new R7
Regarding the dual battery thing, I used Blue Sea's Add-A-Battery kit. Lots of threads on that here, including: https://www.cobaltchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3866 https://www.cobaltchat.com/viewtopic.php?t=3729 https://www.cobaltchat.com/viewtopic.php?p=84414 Regarding the compressor, it's oft...

Re: To Fill Or Not to Fill
For our 2005 496 Merc Mag HO, the manual recommends filling to the top if using Ethanol free fuel to avoid tank condensation which can occur with large temperature swings like we have here in the NE (especially in the Spring). If using fuel which contains Ethanol, the manual recommends draining the...

Re: 2000 246 Fuel Tank Access
I don't have a 246 or direct experience with one, but there's a good chance there's a round circular hatch under one of the seats in the rear of the cockpit area, something like this, that provides access to the fuel pump, lines, and other components: https://www.westmarine.com/west-marine-6inch-scr...
