Do you guys have any recommendations on head units that have bluetooth and USB, and also a 7 (or greater) band EQ? I'm liking the functionality of the $25 cheapo unit I bought from Amazon but with just a Bass and Treble adjustment, I can't get it to sound the way I want it. Need to be able to tweak individual frequency bands.

My Sony has all of that. I can't get the usb to play music through my phone though. But really with Bluetooth you really don't need it.

We didn't use a thumb drive but I took my old phone and loaded up spotify on it and can keep it plugged to the usb port with a charging cable in the glove box and be good to go all day. Never have to worry about charging a device and not having my boat jams.

I just added this into the aux input on the stock MBQuart head unit. Now I just Bluetooth the music from my phone.

We do something similar, Nauti.

In fact, one of the first upgrades we did to our 263 was to replace the older 2005 stereo head unit with a 2017 Sony model allowing for Bluetooth/USB/& 3mm connectivity giving us the freedom to play our faves.

.
In fact, I'll create customized play-lists from my Itunes account which are targeted to certain audiences. Usually these contain not only specific songs, but also certain video game riffs (Mii theme/ MW3/Mario), movie quotes (Back to the future...1.2 gigawatts!), kids voice recordings from early years, and various movie themes (THX, Austin powers, etc.) to enhance the boating experience. All via Bluetooth from my phone.

It's amazing how memories are connected with audio sensory input. It's almost like I will hear a song on the radio today--which will trigger a memory from the past--& I can remember where I was and what I was doing very vividly that day--as a child!

That's what I aim to do with folks on the boat. Memories they will never forget which can be triggered in the future by audio sensory input.

......and a favorite to start off with when folks are boarding.... :D

I can relate 100%...I'm already working on "Nauti Jams 2018" .... I loved it last summer when my sister would call me and say "I need you to send me your boat playlist, the kids keep asking for "Katie's Lake music"...

Even this winter when I"m with my niece and nephew in the car they will hear a song and say "hey you play this on the boat"...warms my heart.

Gotta have a good playlist to fit the crowd!

So do you guys have nice equalizers on those head units? That's really what I'm after. Want to be able to do this, just in the boat.

I would think most have that.mines not that expensive and has that. Then you have your amp then you have to adjust that. Don't you run your head unit kind of flat and adjust the amp?

Thanks guys! Appreciate the model info A7.

BBP, the amp doesn't have equalizer settings, just gain and sometime bass boost. EQ settings have to be done on the head unit.

Bobo87 wrote: Thu Feb 08, 2018 8:55 pm The Fusion and Sony both look nice and appear to have similar specs. It sounds like some have upgraded their factory Sony only to find the factory hard wired remotes do not work. Does anyone have any experience in changing those while swapping out the head unit? I see Fusion, Fosgate & Clarion all make a hard wired remote for the sims deck and such.
Im late to the party but I brought pics for Bobo...

I swapped out a 2003 Sony "xplode with the hardwired remote (same one as Aslan7). I installed a Sony DSXM50BT ..Amazon $125.00

The remote will still work depending on your current replacement but you may loose the display only on the remote but all the functions still work on it.
And you will give up that pesky CD changer if you have it. The next unit is the Sony DSXM55BT.

I changed nothing for wiring.. plug and play in 5 minutes...Sony used the same harness on there radios for ever in those years. Works great plus the wife can charge off USB or hijack the radio from her side as I play Bluetooth from mine.

Its still old school tech but it works great..

Cmattj thank you for the information. I got my eye on the Sony MEX M10BT. I figure if I use my Discover cash back bonus I not only a 20% discount the wife won’t get too upset since that is not real money. 😁
