Tusc, that brings up a good question. How many of you use bow tie downs? The way mine loads on the trailer with the winch strap and hook under the bow roller, I don't see how the bow could bounce at all. But I do see a decent amount of people using them.

I use two.

I like that it keeps the bow snug against the bow stop....hopefully no bouncing....especially if the boat shifts back a little during haul out.

I completely hear what A7 is saying. I've never seen one break. Not sure what the working force is. It would be worth calling reese or boat buckle to find out. Nice find t550. I rather have a piece of rope then nothing at all. If you look at your winch strap rating you will be shocked there too. Maybe 2500 lbs pulling strength. I switched mine to 6000 lbs. I have a fear of it snapping and hitting me in the face.

Can I put a strap on my winch even though it has cable on it originally? Cable always seem to get wadded up and gets wildcats in it that are hard on your hands if you handle it without gloves.

Yes...I hate that cable. It's the first thing we changed out with our last Cobalt, HH54.

We use the heavy duty strap for our 263 with the forged hook and 10,000 pound strength.

I added a retractable one to the front as well. HH yes those cables are rough on anything. I found a 16ft 6000 yellow strap just like A7 posted. Most are 20ft and you can't get it on the winch real easy so the 16ft was a nice find. Heck you only use maybe 4feet of it.

Got 2 at a cross pattern in front. I guess in a collision it would help..

It won't help bow bounce if a load her back though.. I hate watching the bow move in the rear view mirror.. I may add another retractable one like the rears.

I have a safety chain on mine to go along with the winch strap, probably similar concept to your cables. Backup in case the winch strap breaks. Not a tiedown though.

Those are awesome, just would never pay $2100 for one. I could MAYBE see $1000, depending on how tight a space I was working in. But I think for most people it would be a convenience thing rather than a necessity, and honestly I can't see a lot of people being willing to pay that much to save a little bit of hassle backing up a trailer.
