VersiMold

Post by AsLan7 »

.
Did some anchor locker repair and used a product called VersiMold.

$8 on amazon.

It's a moldable Silicone rubber compound that you can shape anyway you want.

Then just apply some heat with a heat gun and it's now a piece of rubber.

Used it to patch my anchor locker base. Great stuff.

Looks like good stuff!!

Are you repairing scuff damage from loose anchor bounce or chain..??

Before my windlass set up on other boats I would drop a rubber impact mat in there..or sacrifice the worst life vest..
Using box anchors are hard to hold

I am, Matt.

Repaired the original rubber lining with the versimold in areas where the anchor had "penetrated". Then I used another rubber mat which I siliconed on top of that (which the picture does not show). That way it is completely waterproof. I have a feeling some water was able to penetrate the old rubber mat--thus the repair.

In any event, it came out quite nice. I'll try to take a picture of the completed project next time. Just ran out of time.

Nice.. Im curious to see how it adheres to side fiberglass as I always worried about that one bounce leaving an outward splinter . I have 15 feet of chain that i just eyeball to make sure it centered on the rope and so far so good.

Roger that.

It adhered to the original rubber mat very well.

I also made the little "bumper" that was missing for the anchor locker to close onto. Just formed a little donut, screwed it down and heated it up. Now it's a rubber bumper.
Unfortunately, the bottom of the picture cut it off so you can't see it. :(
