Re: Depth finder
Good info here. I'm getting ready to replace the Lowrance gauge and transducer in my '95 252. Been researching the best way to mount it to the inside of the hull. Lots of people seem to use epoxy or silicone adhesive sealant, but the one I'm considering basically duplicates what you have there. I'd glue a PVC fitting that has a thread-on cap to the hull, mount the transducer to the cap, and fill with the stuff you pictured.

Re: Depth finder
Thanks. Ended up doing the install yesterday. Couldn't find a PVC fitting at Home Depot big enough, or the right parts to secure the transducer to the cap, so I took the easier-now-harder-later approach and epoxied it to the hull. Made a 1/2" deep or so "above-ground pool" for the epoxy using a cut up plastic water bottle, set inside the hull under the engine, filled with JB Weld, and stuck the transducer in. Water test this weekend, crossing my fingers that there were no bubbles or anything in there. Did the best I could but that's a difficult spot to access.

That would be interesting to see T550.
Any chance you could post a pic of that jury rig?

Re: Depth finder
I'll grab a snap next time I'm in the boat. The ring wasn't sealed to the hull and the spot I used wasn't completely flat so a little bit of epoxy leaked out the bottom. The pool (and the masking tape I used to hold it down) are now permanent fixtures in the boat, right along side the transducer. Should have set some minifigs in there too to make it look like a pool party.

Re: Depth finder
Aslan did that just screw on to the housing that holds the gel liquid? I might have to check mine.

Re: Depth finder
Mines doing the same. It worked perfectly all season. Last trip out it acted up. I don't care too much when I boat around me but it's nice when docking or unfamiliar water. I just hate catching myself always looking at it.Ytmsn wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2017 9:00 amMe too A7. On my blew boat the numbers blink or are not correct. Re: Depth finder
Here ya go. It worked great yesterday, so I'm calling it a successful install, even though it's not very pretty. You can see the original transducer in the background, I didn't bother removing it. I think that one is bad. There was another one like it mounted where the new one is, it came loose at some point. I had to get a flapper disc on my angle grinder and sand down whatever it was they used to mount that one in order to make a flat smooth surface for the new one.
