Cobalt factory interior accent led lighting

Post by tarachanowicz »

I have a question
I have noticed that the new cobalt have option to get interior led accent lighting. I have contacted dealer and they have no boats in inventory with the option. I am wondering if cobalt uses the flex light strips or the solid light tubes for their led accent lights? Cobalt customer service recommended to contact dealer and check one out on the lot. Does anyone here have this option on theirs from factory? I'm Leary of the ebay/Amazon ones and if they last. If anyone knows what they use would be helpful. I was looking at putting some on my

My 2011 242 has lighting, not sure it is LED and Cobalt has likely made some changes. Some of the other members have newer boats and might have better info, but mine is nothing special. Two lights in the bow very low right on the carpet, and two in the stern same location. Useful at night, but I'm already looking to change mine out for some multi-color LEDs and cup holder lights.

Hey welcome to the CobaltChat forum tarachanowicz. So glad you found us !

I'm in the process of converting my interior lights to LED's. Unfortunately the ones I purchased on eBay stick out too far. They do look cool though when lit up. I purchased some smaller ones yesterday. Hopefully I can take some pictures for you. These are for a 2005 cobalt 263.

I am not sure what cobalt uses in today's models.

Welcome to the forum from Central Oklahoma Tara! Be sure to go to the new members page and introduce yourself, and let's have some pictures of that boat! We're big on pictures here.
I had led strips installed in all of my Cubbies. Is that what you're talking about? You can get it done much much cheaper than what you can order it from Cobalt for. That will save money when you're ordering to put towards things that you can only get from Cobalt.
Or you can have lights installed in your speakers.

That made me snort!

Looks good BB! I know you don't get out much at night so here is something I learned with the blue lights. They attract bugs big time. Think of bug zappers with their blue lights... I've never had an issue until this year. But they're really fun before it goes full dark!

Bugs what are bugs? That's why we have winters. It kills them. I don't get out at all at night so no worries for me. If there bad I can turn them off. The speakers of course change colors. I'm sure your yellow M on the swim platform led won't draw any attention. I could barely see it :-)

Okay Tara. We have totally hijacked your thread to the point that none of us remember what your original question was, and it doesn't count if you go back to look. I think it had something to do with unicorns and fairy's wings? At any rate, if we haven't scared you off by now and you decide to stick around, you are most welcome. The folks here are really swell! Even more so if you're a gurl, as we only have one, and we need another. Right Nautie?
So go to the new members section, introduce yourself, tell us where your from and a bit about you, and most importantly, show us a picture of your boat. Or it doesn't exist. That's the rules! Boat pictures that is..

The only advantage of ordering it from Cobalt would be the switch and wiring would be in place. Depending on how handy you are working with wiring, cutting holes in the boat, and OCD about all dash switches matching etc. Then it might be worth it depending on the cost.

I would think though that even if you go with Cobalt you’re gonna want to upgrade shortly if you boat any at night. That’s assuming Cobalt doesn’t offer a multi-color change with the music system now.

I think the standard interior light switch will be there whether you get the option or not. I have a cc switch but no cc for in trance. Factory call to make sure.
