Over 5 years most Tire company recommend replacement of Passenger car and light truck tires regardless of tread depth. Most tire companies also wont repair a tire that is over 5 years old. There getting mean for the poor guy that just needs his tire fixed!!

So with the special ST trailer tire.. Painfull to say but just...toss them.

Ive dodged that same bullet BB as no Damage happen to a Boat with No-inner wood to protect the boat when it separated (i Added a makeshift liner after that)

I still prefer the Goodyear tire

Something else I learned, Goodyear tires are different.
The new Endurance is American made. 5 year warranty and a speed rating of 75mph.
The Marathon, which " was once" made in Canada or the US, is now made in China.
The Mrathon is no different than any other standard issue China bomb.

I don't push GY At all at work for cars and trucks but in a trailer that's what I use. Yes the died testing is huge in there new tire. I think a st is 65? Don't quote me though. And who goes that anymore? Yea my trailer had the inner wood liner thank goodness.

.
Our Dorsey trailer housing the 262 did have that inner wood liner.
Our TrailRite trailer currently housing the 263 does not.

I'll have to fabricate something to protect the precious fiberglass from a dreaded blow out.

Hmm.
When I ordered my trailer, Loadmaster offered inner carpeted fender liners, but the do not recommend them. I thought about ordering them for protection, but in fact, they openly discouraged their use saying that some customers want them, but they would never use them on their own trailers.
I never asked why, I just took their advice.
Maybe if the tire did get into the wood, maybe more damage from broken pointed wood chards flying into the boat than rubber?

That's odd. I see no reason not to have them? If I made my own I would use starboard instead of wood. Prevent the rot.
Even in the rain it would help keep it cleaner.lol ok I'm pushing it there.

I don't know what they use, I'm assuming wood, but maybe not. I just took their advice and left it at that. I never gave it another thought.
I can tell you that if a tire is coming apart at speed, there is absolutely nothing a carpeted inner fender will do to offer protection. The less stuff around it, the better. It's possible the carpet might get tangled up in the tire casing, and pull the rest of the fender that it's screwed to, into the carnage when the tire is coming apart and still spinning before you stop. Who knows, but they must have had a good reason..

Haha, not pushing it BB.. I wanted them to keep rain from spraying up on the boat. :D

My tower is loaded up in the truck and headed for a 2 hour cruise south past Milwaukee to a stainless tubing shop and a custom builder. So we will see if they can do this repair. Cross your fingers. The owner of the company is awesome. He has been the only company that has kept getting back to me on this.

Just got home from doing it off. Meet the owner today. Great guy. Works seven days a week mid 60's and no suit.lol gets his hands dirty and he makes lots of cool things. He knows his stuff and he has one guy that does car, bike and toy stuff. From what I saw this is a walk in the park for them. And the owner let's him do it for cash :-)
