Curious why Volvo doesn't do reservoirs, seems like a good/easy way to keep tabs on drive lube.

That's where the Mercs shine.

Maybe the Swiss engineers thought it would be un-necessary just leave us hoping and wondering.

It could be that Volvo Durant have the heat build up issue and the expansion of the fluid? Or they just have to lube what's on top of the gear case.

Whats odd is that the oil level is a 1inch below the top bearing cap. So I assume the thinking is will allow for enough expansion as not to rupture a seal.

Why removing yours? I just had an extra hole to fill (gross), pretty much the only reason to buy this one.
