Curious why Volvo doesn't do reservoirs, seems like a good/easy way to keep tabs on drive lube.
That's where the Mercs shine.

Maybe the Swiss engineers thought it would be un-necessary 😎just leave us hoping and wondering.

I check both of mine weekly ish.. dipsticks with a level indication. Thank you Sweden!

It could be that Volvo Durant have the heat build up issue and the expansion of the fluid? Or they just have to lube what's on top of the gear case.

Whats odd is that the oil level is a 1inch below the top bearing cap. So I assume the thinking is will allow for enough expansion as not to rupture a seal.

I enjoyed this.

I read this when you joined T but just realized I never welcomed you... so welcome. We've already been making jokes for 4-5 months so far so no hazing here.

I will say that in this thread there was a lotta lube talk and holes getting filled and shooting fluids... clean it up guys.

All this time I thought you didn't love me. Now I know it was just alzheimer's. Thanks for the welcome, and the generous dousing of lube.
