Your words not mine. 😂.
I have some 280 pound solid muscle friends who could quickly exceed a capacity plate on a 25 foot boat.
....and we can pick our poison — cheese in Wisconsin or pierogies in Pittsburgh.

Not sure I've never had one of your pierogies but cheese helps us put extra fat on for the winter.lol
It is funny how they rate a boat though for number of people. How can a 25 foot boat carry 3 less people than a 22ft boat?

That is peculiar.

Capacity plates are only required by the Fed's for any boat less than 20 feet.

Safe Loading CG formula capacity for # of persons has traditionally been... Boat length X Boat Width/15.

To get the NMMA rating, you will see capacity plates on boats larger than 20' which have capacities based on tests conducted. Two different boats may have different characteristics which can drive the NMMA number.

Larger than 26' feet is considered yacht certified so no person/weight limit capacity is listed on the NMMA plate. 8-) Another reason we have a 260 series. 15 kids was not uncommon! :D

I was out at the lake a couple weeks ago with a friend who has a 26 ft pontoon boat, his capacity plate said 23 people  .

Hull displacement — the mass of water a hull displaces when floating — is the basis for all weight capacity calculations.

Vessels of more than 20 feet aren't required to have labels, although boats up to 26 feet built to the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) standards adopted by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) do. An estimated 94 percent of recreational boats sold in the U.S. are built by 145 companies, all of which are members of NMMA and are required to follow the organization's boat and yacht certification guidelines.
