Did you use any sort of dielectric grease on your connections ?thunder550 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2018 9:14 pm All of my connections I made with bullet-style connectors with heat shrink over top, should hopefully keep the connectors dry but also allow easy replacement if necessary.

I like to use it. I just think it helps keep stuff out of your connections. It also aids in opening the connections down the road.

Good idea. If I have to open them up again I'll definitely do that. For now, hopefully the heat shrink will keep them pretty dry.
Holy crap guys, everything hurts this morning. I sat legs crossed on the driveway for several hours terminating wires and stuff yesterday, leaning forward most of the time. My groin muscles are killing me this morning, for all the wrong reasons!

Inside the junction box. The loose brown wire coming out of the left side is temporary to run the reverse lockout solenoid. This will be removed when I swap to the solid coupler.
Shows location of junction box and breakaway battery. EOH actuator will be mounted in front of the winch stand, I have a wire pigtail run to that location.
New 7 wire trailer harness, no more 7-to-5 adapter needed

Thanks BB. It's almost like a sickness. I get a plan in my head or a problem to figure out and pretty much obsess over it until it's implemented. Actually wish I could relax a little more and not be in such a hurry, would make life a lot easier. Can't turn it off though

I don't know squat about electrical. I both admire you and hate you at the same time Thunder! I wish I could do half the stuff you knock out.
Even with my (very) limited knowledge of wiring, I sure thought plugs and wiring were standard? This is what I Googled, and what I've attempted before at my feeble attempts at rewiring trailers:
White-Ground
Brown-Tail/Running Lights
Green-Right Turn/Brake - Remember green has an R in it
Yellow-Left Turn/Brake - Remember yellow has an L in it
Blue-Brake Controller Output
Purple-Auxiliary 12v Power/Reverse Lights/Reverse Lockout For Trailer Brakes
Black 12v Battery Power
I wonder why your RV is different? Maybe you should rewire that sucker too.. I'd double dog dare you but I know you'd have it done by this afternoon.

Re: 1995 Cobalt 252 consolidated revitalization and fix-up thread
Here's a Q&A from etrailer
Question
Why is There a Wire Color Differnce Between 7 Way Traditional vs RV Standard
Why is there a difference? I wired my truck for the Camper but now it doesnt work with my horse trailer or car hauler? Why isnt there an industry Standard? Thanks
Answer
It's a wire color difference but not a function difference on the pins of the 7-way. The difference comes from the fact that the two different styles are representative of two different areas that uses trailers. Traditional is usually seen on equipment, utility and cargo trailers. Whereas RV standard is for campers and travel trailers. They both basically started doing their own thing and are too stubborn to adopt the other side. HA!
A lot of it has to do with the fact that there are so many trailers already out there wired each way that if either changed it would still cause confusion.

Brake controller is in. Prewiring in a vehicle sure makes it easy.

Does that brake control have sway control settings for the track
At least the terminals are in the same spot. Nothing like screwing with the colors. Hopefully the next guy that buys your trailer doesn't open up the box and go wth.lol
