No regulations for surfing yet here in Minnesota but a lot of people support some sort of regulation. The university of MN has begun to study the issue and their research indicates that the wave height from a surf boat is the same at 425 feet as a typical non surf boat is at 200 feet. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a state regulation in distance from shorelines in the next year or two. We do a lot of surfing(2,500 gallons used boating last summer) but I stay at least 100 yards from shore and our lake is big enough that we mix up the locations where we surf. There are at least double the number of surf boats in our lake compared to when I got my R5 Surf in 2018 and that trend is still going.

I'm ok with 200 feet. 100 is pretty close. I bet they even look at the size of the lake it might have to be so many acres? They might even put a speed limit on them like 12mph
