They always find a way to get their cut

Post by sailor55330 »

As a new resident of Georgia, I'm learning about how the state does its annual license tags. The good news is my car tags are $21 annually (Yay)

My boat trailer is $89........They hit you with an annual ad valorem tax every year......

My boat should go on the lift In August and the tags expire at the end of August.

I won't use the trailer again unless I pull the boat out to clean or winterize (don't know if I"m going to winterize on the lift of not). I'm 1.4 miles from the ramp, but have to drive past a Georgia State Patrol outpost......

Would you renew the tags? And has anyone winterized on a lift? It seems about 50/50 as far as people keeping the boats on lifts all winter long. My gut says no. I don't have the EZ drain (missed it by a few months).

Dilemmas dilemmas....

I have a good friend who winterizes on his lift on Lake Norman in NC. Says it's quite common. He's done it for years without issue.

I’ve heard that as well, then again I’ve heard stories of the CoE pulling dock permits and heavy fines if you they catch you winterizing on the lift. It’s a total game as is many things with the Core
