2015 26SD Rockford black box location

Hoping for some assistance here-

2015 26SD. Intermittent operation of main head unit (RFXMR5BB) both control pads at the helm and stern effected as well. Rockford suspect the black box being the issue, as all head units are displaying the same intermittent operation (constantly resetting, bouncing from “welcome, aux, am/fm etc)

Both amps are mounted in the bow on the STB side under the flip up cushion. However the black box is not mounted here.

Could someone direct me to its location? Is mounted behind the panel where the amps are located? Or near the head like in some R5s

Hey c12…..So glad you found us.

On certain models that black box is actually mounted on the top side of the ski locker.

Hopefully others with this Cobalt model can help you shortly.

There's a 24SD on my dock a few boats down. If I see him soon, I'll have him take a look.

I have an R5 and it mounted on the floor below the passenger seat. Open the head door and look back toward the transom. I am guessing it is placed there so they can connect both the remote on the dash and the one at the transom if optioned.

Thank you for this! Found and was accessing via the head compartment.

Bad news however, I traced the issue to the black box itself.(not wiring, touchpad issue)

The model of the current unit is theRFX4000-sx, and is discontinued. Looks as if it’s an easy swap out, but I’ve been unable to locate one.

Any experience on a workaround here? Maybe upgrade to the RFX6000? I’m not too confident in my dealer to hash this out effectively.

Mine is a PMX-8BB. I do not see the RFX on their website so I think this might be the recommended replacement. You may need to verify that your wired remote is compatible. Probably best to call RF directly and see what they have to say.

Their customer service is pretty good, they actually pick up the phone.

That’s the next step- I don’t have RF dealer local to me. I’ll give them a call direct and start fishing for some info.
