Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
Hello,
Had a few weeks with the boat. Looking for more ways to customize the wave.... we have been simply filling ballasts and selecting either surf right/left and adjusting speed between 10.8 and 11.6.
We have been using the trim assist which automatically sets it as 0. Does anyone have any experience raising or lowering trim while surfing, and if so what were the effects? The wave is awesome and I am just looking for more ways to dial it in.
We do not have the options for steep/mellow wave.
Thanks everyone for your insights.

We have found that the lower the TPM the smaller the wave and the higher the TPM the higher the wave. To lengthen the wave we go a little faster. We usually use full ballast and then 3 degrees on the tpm and 11.5 mph will give you a great wave. Also if you play around with the menu options you will see you can save surf profiles. My son likes 50% left and right ballast and 70% center with 0 on the tpm and 10.5 mph and he surfs right side. It's so nice to just touch his name and It all sets up for him.

Interested in this thread as I am trying to get my wave perfected in my 2021 R8 Surf. What is TPM stand for? Trim? Thanks, in advance.

I think it's trim pitch measurement but I don't know for sure. It's the angle of the out drive. I think they started doing that in 2022, so on your Garmin it may still have a percentage instead of an angle measurement but I also don't know that for sure either. The higher the number for us the higher the wave. Basically the more up the drive is the taller the wave. You can also control that with ballast. The faster we go the longer the wave gets. Hope that helps.2023BlackR8SURF wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 8:28 am Interested in this thread as I am trying to get my wave perfected in my 2021 R8 Surf. What is TPM stand for? Trim? Thanks, in advance.

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
we found this weekend that a TPM (trim) of 2 and a speed of 11.6 with 50/70/50 ballast produced a really nice, long wave. Surfed on a malibu and our cobalt this weekend. The Malibu had a longer wave, while our Cobalt's was steeper. Next time i am going to do less ballast and see what we get with that. Hope this helps2023BlackR8SURF wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 8:28 am Interested in this thread as I am trying to get my wave perfected in my 2021 R8 Surf. What is TPM stand for? Trim? Thanks, in advance.

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
Had a great day on the water yesterday. Have the port side wake dialed in based on the feedback here. 11.6 speed, ballast port side full, center full, starboard 1/2, trim 3. I'm struggling to get the starboard to clean up with the same settings flipped. Any suggestions? Maybe my R8 is gonna be a port wake surf boat?
Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
Yes all the seating is on the port side. So maybe try no ballast on the port side?

Re: Wave Customization 2023 R8 Surf
I’ve been tweaking the surf setting on my R8S all summer and found the best wave is full ballasts, 11.3 mph, and +3 trim angle. You do need to turn off the Trim Assist. Effective for both right and left sides.
