Suggestion on trim tabs for 2005 282

Post by CobaltMinerAtl »

I'm looking to add trim tabs to my 2005 282 the 2024 season. What are the recommendations brand/size and electric vs hydraulic?
It seems the job to install is pretty straight forward, however, the whole purposely putting a hole in the boat thing....gives me pause!

That big sterndive thing on the back of the boat is a huge hole you already have! Putting in additional little ones for the trim tabs is nothing!

Yes nothing to be nervous about. We had Bennett electric trim tabs installed on our 262. I’d recommend the 12 x 12 electric. They will work perfectly your 282; especially when compensating for uneven weight distribution.

Bennett and Lenco are the two big brands - I don't think you'd go wrong with either of them.

I installed electric Lenco on my A28 last year (Lenco 12x9 tabs and actuators 10995-103) and love them. 12x12 is likely appropriate, per comments above. Highly recommend paying the few extra dollars to get the switch with LED indicator so you know position of tabs.

Suggest electric from Lenco or Bennett.

Just get ones large enough to have an effect. We have the "smallish" 150S K-planes on our 360 and unless I drop them nearly all the way down, I can hardly tell they're there. Good for out-of-the hole and levelling an offset loading, but really don't make too much of a difference when cruising.
