Underwater LEDs

Post by Tuscany »

I’m thinking about having my dealer add a set.
I didn’t order them with the boat because we never boat at night...with the new boat, we seem to have been on the water at night a lot.
Go figure.🚤

I want something that will wire in with the existing dash button. I want to keep it simple and stick with a light blue or a combo of white and blue.
Before I ask my dealer, What do you guys recommend?
Thanks.

Tusc I have white/blue seablaze on my 240. The way they work is with one switch. They are white, blue, both at the same time, white on one side and blue on the other, fade in case out or spastic blinking, all by flipping the switch. They work really good, are pricey, and supposed to last a long time. The drawback is you have to drill into your transom.

Boatpluglite.com has a pretty nice option that goes into the drain hole. I'm going with this option on my 262. 16000 lumens (claimed) and you can still pull the plug to drain the bilge. Plus you don't have to drill holes. They come in white, blue, green or RGB to make any color with a remote controller.

I've discovered that I like the blue the most, but it's cool to put the white light on because it reaches out so far.

Here is a picture of what I'm going with on my 262

The other thing to consider is the heat. When they installed the seablaze on the 240 they put them higher than I had requested because the installer realized I wanted them located below the floor of the bilge. It would have been extremely difficult to fish the wire up through, if not impossible. But they are just barely below the surface. If we're on the swimdeck or setting in the back they're deeper, but when underway they are fully exposed. That means they get hot. And heat is what makes them burn out, so I try not to run them long. But they light up the wake and spray on the sides, and it's way cool. When I got the 262 it's one of the things we really missed.

We used to seldom go out at night, but now it's one of our favorite things to do. It's cool watching the stars while we just float.

Boatpluglight.com is what we used.

I went with the offset so I could leave it in and still pull the drain plug out of it if needed.
Plus the offset is nice for it will sit above the V and not drag..

Pick a color or go RGB

Get the remote and you are good to go!

It's the 8,000 lumen

Matt I was worried that wouldn't clear when you screw it in. I'm glad to see it does. I thought about the double offset. Do you think it'll clear? Do you have a picture of it on your transom?
