Bravo III Questions

Post by ph2ocraft »

I'm new to cobalt and I've never had a Bravo 3. I just bought an 03 262 with 425horse but it does have the high elevation props. Boat has 345 hours. I'd like to run back to stock as I'm at sea level, any suggestions?
Any opinions or suggestions to better longevity of my out drive?
Thanks In Advance

Welcome to the site!! Got any pics of that 262 to share? We love pictures! :D

Here's a link to the owner's manual for your 2003:

Assuming your 425hp engine is the 496 Mag HO, the manual says you should be running prop part numbers 48-823665A60/66A60, which are 24" pitch props. What do you have on there now?

There's also two possible gear ratios in your drive, 1.81 is the standard but 2.2 is an option as well. Do you know which one you have? If not, can you post your drive serial number?

For longevity, drive showers are awesome. The Bravo drives tend to run hot up on the part that's out of the water. It can get hot enough to boil off any spray that comes in contact with the upper unit and bake on some minerals. A drive shower will keep it running cooler, which is better for the internals and also keeps your drive looking nicer since minerals aren't being baked onto. I'd recommend the Simrek drive shower, they are no-drill installation. There are others that require you to drill through the cavitation plate to mount the water pickup.

Here's a discussion thread on the Simrek shower, and here's a photo of the one I put on my Bravo 1.

Great information. I just found out they are 26P but I'm not sure of the ratio in the my Bravo 3. I do have the serial number which is OM139255, hope that helps. Pictures real soon:-) It's being detailed before they deliver it but I wanted to get a jump on the props.
