Lake subforums

Post by jhnmdahl »

Krob1114 had the idea of having sections for lakes that are particularly popular, so people could meet up, talk about good restaurants and refueling spots, where to drop anchor, etc.. It seems like a good idea to me - anybody else have thoughts on this?

I'm thinking of building subforums in the regional section down below, and maybe annotate the existing titles to make clear that individual lakes are included there too.

Table rock is probably on the list, but what other lakes should be listed right away? Winnipesaukee (or whatever that one is), LOTO, Tahoe, Minnetonka, Okoboji, Travis, and Havasu are on my maybe list, but it would be fun to catch the most popular few lakes from each region.

Or do you go to your lake to get away from us nuts, and not want to advertise that you're there? Or is it "we" nuts?

I'm ok with the way it is or with sub forums. Hope that helps. I'm here to help.

Geeze.
I’m gonna add California Delta.
I know there’s some lurking Delta folk so maybe this will bring them out?!
They can’t all be in Lake Tahoe?

Gotta put the Fox Chain O’ Lakes in there, I know there’s several members here that are on it.

I'd just like to meet a few more Cobalt owners at Greers Ferry Lake.

I dont know John, in the Regional section theres not that much activity. Seems like the individual lakes would be the same way. Plus, theres bound to be somebody that could get their panties in a wad if you haven't included their particular lake. Just my ,02

I typically only look at the new posts and not sure I would use it.
BUT it could help attract new visitors from Google searches where people are interested in those lakes. Then again they aren't necessarily Cobalt owners.
I could see posts there that are more legacy posts because good places on lakes don't change very often. I guess it should be more of posts instead of subforum.

So perhaps the solution is to leave the regional forums as they are, and encourage people to start lake-specific threads there if they're so inclined? I could see making a lake thread that gets some traction a "sticky" for a certain region so it doesn't drift off the front page.
