Basic toolkit

Post by Dudley67 »

I know this is “Safety”...

But I would like to hear your “basic” toolkit that you carry onboard? Never carried one in Florida.. :o

But am thinking now in my old age, it would be smart...

So what ya carryin’?

Many thanks..

Your gonna learn that as we break things that could have been fixed in the water .. the list grows to a larger kit that may never be used.

As I break things I add them to my kit.
Zip ties and hose repair kits are my recent add.
Here is a link that explored this subject last year.
Always good to revisit the Boat tool shed!

This is what I carry on the water.

If I can't fix it with that I probably need towed in :)

I just keep one of those 100 piece tool kits, a jump box, and some hose clamps. Like Norris said, if it takes more than that I'll call for a tow. I also boat on smaller inland lakes, if I were ocean or great lake boating i would definitely have a more robust kit.

Plus you can always get out and just push your boat to the dock again. Lol

LOL BBP, I was in the Coast Guard, so I know about the shallow water sailing...

Appreciate the insight, I never carried anything in Florida, always had TowBoat US, here in the inland waters, I wanted a little something in a toolbox to rely on...
