Bilge cleanup.
Bilge cleanup.
.
Well since the internals are all out, took the day today to thoroughly clean the engine bay.
The boat was nose down for two weeks. That way the techs would not keep hitting their heads on the swim platform during outdrive Maintenence.
That means all fluids were in the forward part of the boat.
Sooooo, I Jacked her all the way up so she could puke her guts out--Two big buckets of slime antifreeze; power steering fluid; oil; and water. Yuck.
Used engine degreaser; simple green; "Awesome" cleaner (only $3 per gallon at Dollar general!) and many many rags and paper towels; hose and elbow grease.

Good job. It's not often a person gets that opportunity.

Curios what the two small wires with a red butt connectors are under the exhaust on Starboard side?

Looks good. I rather you didn't have to bond with her that close though.

Hey Matt.
Thx.
Those are the temperature sensor wires for the water temperature gauge.
Here's a pic of them on the outside of transom.

Re: Bilge cleanup.
Seriously, with that motor out I'd sure freshen her up. It won't cost that much extra for new rings, bearings, bushings, gaskets and seals. Then you KNOW your motor is good to go for a long time. it would give you a good opportunity to check your risers and manifolds too. The engine overheat may be why the PO traded her off, and you don't know how she was treated. Pull the heads and send them to the machine shop while you break the block down and go through it. Put in a new oil pump, stick it all back together with a fresh paint job, and VOILA! Peace of mind brother!

Hey
You're spending my money faster than I can spend it--and I didn't think that was possible, YTMSN!
