props props and props

Post by juddmyers »

Where are you buying your replacement dual props at? Mine are still in good shape but I would like a spare to have on the shelf. When I googled, I find them for $1500 or so.

Is this about right or can they be had for less? Mine are SS by the way.

That sounds about right. Kinda cheap to be honest.

I was looking at replacing my B3 with a higher pitch, but opted not to because of the price.

So you have f5 props. No you can't use a merc prop. The merc comment was for tsouth.
You don't know you're wot rpms yet right? I would wait to buy a prop till you know how yours are performing. Then buy.

I by no means am a prop expert like BBP but I think the spline count on the drive shaft differ between the VP and the Bravo 3. Quick google search should help.

I didn't realize BB was talking to someone else. No, I still dont have rpm working yet. Checked all connections this past weekend and it made no difference at all. Will probably replace the gauge next. Might wait till winter though, Not sure.

Ok judd asked where do you buy these from.
I said ebay.
Then tsouth mentioned b3 which is merc.
I said buy hill marine too him.
Now we should be on the dance page. Judd if you want to spend your money watch ebay for a f5 set.

Duo spares for Mercs are everywhere. Just don't go pitch crazy and kill her.

Volvo is tricky as the F series are mostly proprietary to them..and Jud you have a tach to fix or you may be looking for F4 not 5 if she's sluggish still.

Here's the examples BB is referring to

I paid under a grand for my hills. I paid 700 for a new set of f8 a few years ago. They're is always a set to be had cheaper on there you just have to watch. Just get a set of f4 and f6 and then your ready.

I'm curious. Why would you spend over a grand to replace props to gain just a few mph? Especially since it's not a race boat and your never on top for more that 30 seconds or so? I can see gaining a hole shot and mid range for water sports, but otherwise? Ah nevermind. Just thinking...
