Donzi 41 GT

Post by AsLan7 »

.
With the consumer high performance boating market on life support, it's not surprising to see a manufacturer attempt to lure a new generation using an alternative model that takes advantage of the spiked demand for outboard motors.

My first boating love, Donzi, is supposedly debuting a Donzi 41 GT this summer. It will be interesting to see how it is received. They currently offer only the 16', 18', & 22' Classic series as well as this new model for consumers.

https://www.donzimarine.com/models/gt-series/

It would be cool if they could power this 41GT with a few of the new 627SV's from Seven Marine  .

In any event, thoughts from the peanut gallery?

Very cool. Merc is working on some big hp outboards so this is going to be pretty cool.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I pick up a used 502 powered 22 Classic someday and take it out occasionally, Matt. It’s just so timeless & sexy.

Amazing how similar you and I are. (Although you have one more shirt than I) . 8-)

Your pics got my heart a poundin' there, Matt. Beautiful.

Btw, was that an external hose adapter thru the transom in that break-in video? Haven't seen that.

Yes .hose bib with a metal sealing cap outside to 3/4 inch hose barb thru hull..I ran down and T into the fresh water line.
Easier if it starboard but it sat port on the hoist.

( you can see where I cross it under the engine to the other side.

Sure it would blow out the pick up but when she started it was fine.

It was inside the engine compartment on the starboard on a bracket ..

When I took it to have the engine removed so I could go through it ,I asked my buddy to relocated it to the other side so I didn't have to run a hose across the engine.( tricky on a hoist).

When I brought the engine back in s coupke he surprised me by drilling the transom and moving it port side.

Ok.. I guess.. sheesh. But it work out better as you remember engine idle with the prop rod was a scary site 😂

Interior was from Donzi Direct parts. I just bought the kit and put the snaps for the rear. A million unnecessary snaps. Haha.

Windshield I cut and had Tap plastics use Margard poly as it's good replacement and cleans easy.

Previous owner had the stringers redone so the engine alignment was a nightmare.

Other than that I'd do another. I'd get one with Hydraulic steering though. They get cranky above 75 mph right!!

Great history Matt.
Was your wife onboard with your “little project “?

Mine was always a little hesitant with our Donzi and newborn.😬
