ok, I mis-spoke. I also use the Saran Wrap. Not aluminum foil. In all honesty, it was the generic Sams Club version. We buy that stuff in bulk.
I put three wraps of packing tape around the plastic wrap it to keep it tight for the winter.

Re: VP 8.1 - winterization
I have the drive shrink wrapped when they do the rest of the boat, but I may do this as well since I'm pulling the props for winter.

Re: VP 8.1 - winterization
Digging up an old post on the winterization of a V-P and need to ask for some clarification. I have seen mention in this post and others about draining the block and then running anti-freeze thru the engine. My question centers around how you would do this without the engine running as with this scenario, you wouldnt have any coolant in the engine until the thermostat opens up (would obviously happen MUCH quicker without coolant inside ).
Did someone confirm if the newer fuel injected motors (not sure what year that occurred) can introduce the anti-freeze thru the water port? I have the muffs for an outboard so can easily do that with the buckets of anti-freeze. For my jet-ski, I created a device using a small water pump (lanscaping pond pump) with a 6 ft garden hose section attached. This sucks AF from a bucket into the water port to flush the pump.
