Cobalt Factory Tour Dec. 14th 2018. Be there or be square

Team Nauti has booked a group factory tour at the Cobalt plant for Friday Dec 14th. We have been talking about it in another thread but I want to put it up here so everyone can see it, comment, make plans, cuss and discuss...

I'm sure everyone already knows, but the plant is in Neodesho Kansas, the southeast part of the State. Its 2.5 hours from Kansas City, 2 hours from Tulsa and 1.45 from Witchita for those flying in and driving. If folks want to come in on a Thursday evening to Tulsa, I'll try to get a good rate at a hotel where we can gather up and have dinner, and then drive up to the plant on Friday.

Depending on the feedback and participation, we will either carpool up and back (if enough locals show) or I could rent a 15 passenger van and we all ride up together.

I called the plant back in the summer and told them what we wanted to do and they said let them know and they'll try to schedule something special. I also met and talked to the regional rep at The Harbor at Table Rock Lake and he said the same thing, so I think we can make this a pretty cool trip.

They did something similar for Cobalt owners and prospective buyers from Grand Lake last summer and Cobalt rolled out the carpet for them, and included a "swag bag"" for every attendee with all kinds of cool stuff.

Paxton St Clair has retired to Grand Lake, so I'm going to try to contact him and see if he'll join us. Who knows where that will lead, but when I told the rep and the factory that Cobalt Chat wants to come for a visit they got pretty excited. So we'll see. How cool would it be to have the founder of Cobalt hang with us?

So, let's try to get a head count and firm up how many people are coming. This is Teams Nautis deal so I hope I'm not overstepping, but I'd sure like to meet as many of the buoys and gulls of our little community as possible

A7 has mentioned he may fly into Kansas City, so maybe gdane or someone there can do the same in getting a hotel, and then we all converge on the plant Friday morning.

Dang I'm already getting revved up! Let's do this!

Gdane is going to do his level best to get our shirts out in time so we show up looking a good as we all think we do!

Awesome YT - not overstepping at all - it will be great to meet everyone. We are flying into KC on Thursday.

We are staying in Lawrence, about 30min West of KC on Thursday night and then will wake up early Friday and head to Cobalt. As YT mentioned it is literally in the middle of nowhere South East Kansas. We spent the extra money and rented a Jeep Cherokee - there are freak snow storms in Kansas - just something to think about. Couple years ago I was stuck driving a rental V8 Mustang through a snow and ice storm on I-70. Not fun.

I think you guys all know - but I am from the area so happy to give any tips - things to do and places to get BBQ.

I'm trying to talk the wife into this. She is going to a concert here in St. Louis on the 13th. So if we come, we would be driving from STL early on friday morning. I'd say as of now I am probably a no but still working on the wife.

Hey YT - just as an FYI. We worked with Jane Wilson and have a tour scheduled with Derek LaBarr who is their "Central Customer Service Rep". Tours start at 10AM just to give everyone an idea of when they need to be at the factory.

Sounds like you know people in higher places than Jane though, getting something setup /w Mr. St. Clair would be awesome, I hope Derek understands when we drop his tour for the cool kids tour lol.

I think we are a no. I just googled it and with it being a 10am tour I'd have to leave STL at 4am to get there by 10.

And if I tell the wife to miss Justin Timberlake she might divorce me

Not sure but I might be able to follow them.
So talked to the wife and she can not go. She's in retail and no days off in December. I'll have to check with work as I don't have any vac left this year. I'm in if they give me off. I'll Make the drive. Let me know when we pick a hotel. I say get the ones the Nauti's booked already unless they v want to find one closer. I have no idea where anything is.
I'll find another person to drive with me. Maybe bfun will hook up with me and make the trip.
