Bilge draining

Post by Roygoe »

The floor ski storage on my 2000 226 will not drain into the bilge. Every time it rains I have to sponge it out. Any clues as to how to solve my problem? Is there a drain hole from the storage to the bilge that might be plugged? Thanks!!

Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum roygoe. So glad you found us!

Yes, look for a drain hole or two at the back of the ski locker. Use a hangar to unplug. It will then drain into the bilge.

Btw, any pics?

....and welcome aboard mate!

Thanks, I’ll get a hangar and flashlight and start poking.

I agree with Aslan. My old boat had a drain hole that was clogged with foam, had to punch through it with a length of romex wire. A hanger was too weak. Good luck.

When we put our last boat on the lift, it was slightly tilted foward.
Lake water in front of the ski locker area would eventually start to smell.
I'd have to lower lift to point where I could get in water, add my weight by holding on, and remove the drain plug and wash everything out.
Haven't had that problem on our new boat.
Different lift.

Funny seeing this, our new 226 has the same issue, I got in the ski locker once, but got deterred by the standing water. Will try again this weekend to find the hidden drain hole...

I too have this problem
The drain hole appears to be clear but it appears that the gas tank may be directly behind the drain hole and affecting the drain

Hey blpdbp...so glad you found us.

Did you push a hangar or hard wire through the opening? Does it hit the tank with no room for water to exit? That would be surprising.

And pics?

And welcome aboard mate.

I’m having the same drain issue with a ‘99 206. The gas tank or something else very hard is pressed up against the hole. A coat hanger doesn’t fit anywhere. Is it possible for the gas tank to shift forward and cause this?
Thanks for any insight.
