23SC Steering Wheel

Post by vladk »

Hi, looking for personal experience and opinion on steering wheel toughness on 23SC or 25SC.

We considering 23SC and did a test drive on one. Great boat, have 2 questions:

1. The steering wheel is kinda tough to turn, not that it's super hard, but takes some effort, is it normal? I'm comparing with I/Os (SC23) where I could literally use one finger to turn.
2. There is some noticeable shudder when gradually increasing speed from the stop. It goes away in a short while, after reaching some MPH. Is this initial shudder normal?

Thanks,

My 25sc I can turn with one finger. I don't think the shudder is normal. Mine has the Yamaha 300. Its smooth right from the start. I feel the Cobalt's are well built boats. The twin displays take sometime to learn all the sub groups. it would be nice if they were more user friendly

Hey V. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

The effort you are describing does not sound normal. I’d have this checked out by a qualified marine tech.

Not sure about the shudder. Do you notice any rpm change with the shudder?

Any pics of your rig? Feel free to start an intro thread only if you have time.

Again welcome aboard mate!

I guess I would drive another one. What engine package did it have? As you have a owner of a Yamaha and his doesn't do it.

Try calling a Wisconsin dealer or a Florida one and ask them. I have a feeling it's normal.
