Oil filter cap too tight

Post by Chasing Rays »

VP V8 380 oil filter cartridge cap will not come off. Just confirming it is regular threading and not reverse? Any tips?

Thanks in advance.

.
Put some muscle into it CR. Regular thread.
Use a rag and channel lock (or similar) pliers to turn counterclockwise to loosen.
Make it hapn’ Capn’!

So nice that Volvo is using these types of filters now. Why don't cars/trucks do the same thing is my question.

Cars have been using them for years. Chrysler 3.6 night mare. These were next to impossible to get this year. Cars were down for over a month trying to get replacements.

Mercedes and BMW uses them.
Easy to get to, no mess, right on top.

The bad thing is they Crack. They are plastic and if you over tighten them they will Crack. Then they make a mess everywhere. Give me a chevy sb filter upside down in a truck any day of the year over these things.

Also remember to replace the oring. They will leak and the edges on the canister are sharp and can cut them. Lube is your friend still.
