25 SC first boat

Post by Tgoertz »

Taking delivery on sc25 this week. Took it out to test yesterday in high winds and 2-3 ft chop. Boat ate up the water like there was no chop. Amazing ride.

A couple of newbie questions.
With the tower is the ski pylon still needed to pull skiers?
What is needed to pull tubes? Dealer said it would be fine to pull from the tower, but read enough to know better.

Thanks for any pointers!

Hey TG....welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

Beautiful color combo my friend.

You can use the ski pylon for skiers or wake boarders.

For tube pulling you'll need a bridle attached to your transom D-rings which will then extend past your outboard motor. An example on Amazon here

Here's a link to your SC25 owner's manual. If that doesn't work search here.

Keep those pics comin' and again welcome aboard mate!

I have just bought a used 2017 Cobalt SC 25. I can hardly contain my excitement.
I do have a question about the arch
Due to covid I have to hire a transport company to deliver the boat ( 8 hrs away)
They want the electric arch down for the trip. The boat and trailer will be on a flatbed trailer.

My question is : when the arch is down does it lock in a folded down position ? Or does it sit on the windshield?
I contacted the company directly and they coudn’t answer my question.
Help! I am stressed out about getting in in one piece.

Also would you transport with the mooring cover on?

Thanks for any advice

Hey J29... welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Can’t help with the arch question but I would definitely have her transported with the mooring cover snugly attached. Anything to keep the elements, bugs, road grime, dust and debris from getting to your hull or interior is a bonus...especially during transport.

Any pics of this new to you SC 25?

Again welcome aboard Josie!

From What the guys are saying it should lock down in place. It shouldn't come in contact with the windscreen.

Well if it locks thats the perfect scenario! Thank you.
I have never bought a boat without seeing it first and without transporting it myself!
Darn Covid.
But when I am on the water my stress will float away and years will be added to my life.

I keep mine in dry storage and have to put the arch down to save a bit on storage costs. If you fold up the Bimini that arch comes down below the windscreen. With the Bimini open it hits the windscreen. So as long as you fold up the Bimini you should be good to go.

I’ve had the boat 2 weeks and just past 13hrs. Hope you enjoy it as much as I am!

Thank you so much for your reply Tgoertz.
Happy to hear you are enjoying your new boat.
We put about 100 hours a season so I i tend to enjoy fully when it arrives.

I just heard from the transport company. They haul the biat/trailer on a flatbed but will need to first put it up on a tow truck to then back it onto their flatbed. It seems scary to me but I have to trust the process. They are professionals I guess, and also have a million in cargo insurance so I need to take deep breaths and relax.

Can’t wait for it to be in my driveway!
Have a great day cobalt boat friends

Hi, I'm getting my first Cobalt and need to arrange transport. Can I ask who you used, and if you were happy with them?
Thanks!
