Congrats. That motor looks great. Glad it all worked out for you in the end. Very beautiful boat functioning as it should. You should slap yourself on the back. You deserve it.

Roger that gents and lady (btw, great pic Nauti). Thx for the kind comments. Funny YTMSN! ...and certainly trying to forget the bill Matt. πŸ˜‚

To summarize this entire thread for anyone with the overheat alarm. We overcame the overheating challenge by accomplishing the following:

1. Ran boat with laptop connected which showed exhaust cylinder manifold temps (ecmt) were indeed overheating.
2. Cleaned the gooey end cap rubber pieces out of the heat exchanger.
3. Replaced the raw water pump and impeller due to scoring.
4. Replaced the kinked hose connected to the input of the raw water pump
5. Replaced the twisted "S" shaped hose in the outdrive that connects to the transom assembly housing.
6. Rebuilt the corroded bolt threads on the transom assembly housing which connects the raw water pump hose to the transom inlet (the most difficult part of the challenge).

After the above was accomplished (20 minutes from being totally done) rear transom heavy duty steering bracket freakishly snaps off while attaching top steering nut/pin. Would not have believed this if I had not seen it with my own eyes.
This required engine hatch & engine removal to replace.

Now waiting on the bill as they tally the damage. Time to pick up some extra flying. $$$

Thanx again for all your encouragement, humor, and advice.

Love this Cobalt family. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜Ž

Well the bill just came in. North East Marina did a fantastic job all around.

Anyone want to guess the total cost?

My Guess is ugly....

ENGINE R&R...1600.00
COOLING SYSTEM CLEAN AND HOSE REPLACEMENT AND PUMP 2400.00
TRANSOM HOUSING AND LABOR (ENGINE OUT) 550.00
MISC PARTS AND FLUIDS ADD LABOR 900.00

TOTAL $5450.00 ..

I hate recreational billing..

I'm betting on the over on cmattj estimate.

Although, you being such a great guy and all around stalwart companion to the tech he may have given you the five finger discount.

Close enough BbP.

These marine tech's really underestimated their hours. Yes, I did help out quite a bit but they really worked with me. Normally at $100 an hour, they certainly put in more than 11 hours of work. More like 3 times that.

I gave them each some cash bonuses, bought breakfast & lunch a few times, and also paid cash for the laptop tech to come down from Findley lake.

All in all it totaled just under $3k.

The North East Marina boys are heroes in my book for getting Humpty Dumpty back together and then rocking the lake with her at an unbelievable total cost.. πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜Ž

If you get the chance, say hi to Roy and his son Chad at the Marina service department. Also Craig the co-manager with Roy and Bob Mazza the owner of NE Marina.

Thanks again for all the fun and encouragement as well as advice.

Yes that's not bad At all. Now are you done with your selling dealer or is that the next battle. Seeing that this really was caused by them. Maybe just time to move on. I'm just glad you got her rocking on the water.
