First intro pics

Post by NorCal226 »

I have been stalking and learning from this group for a year and I thought it might be time to make my first post. We were able to get the boat wet this weekend as the weather reached the high 80's. Great day at the lake with the only hitch of breaking the bimini on a high speed run. Here are some photo's of my 2000 226.

Hey NC226 thanks for coming out of the woodwork. Great pics my friend. Love that crystal clear water.

So how fast were you going to blow the bimini off...80?

Welcome aboard mate!

Just shooting north of 55 when BAM! everything let loose, the wife screamed and the top was toast. Actually it is the front frame tube that is bent up along with the strap clips broken. Any source to replace just the frame tube?

Wow. We have gone north of 55 with the bimini up and no issues. Try GreatLakesSkipper.com or source it at Taylor Made.

Mark that is Whiskeytown Lake, the other lake in Shasta County. Shasta Lake while larger is never clear water like Whiskeytown and do to mismanagement from the reclamation department they drain Shasta Lake every year. Then if we have a dry year they drain it earlier in the year, already 100' down this year.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked at how clear it was for Shasta. :D

It's beautiful!

It's going to be a bad year for CA boating. Our go-to lake, Don Pedro, is WAY down again.

Nice looking vessel! Same thing happened to my bimini as well- strap clips broke in some Tahoe wind and the top flapped wildly. I was only going about 40, so my tube survived. Good luck with your search- Aslan gave some good ideas.

Just an update on the bimini top repair. I contacted a local upholstery shop that makes & repairs bimini tops and he can bend a new bow to replace the bent bow from my top. The good news is it will be done in a week and will match the exactly. I always try looking next door before searching on line.
