Finding a boat slip

Any ideas how to get a boat slip this far into the season? We are experienced boat club members, but just purchased our first boat — a beautiful one year old 220s, which arrives later this week. As we didn’t know if we would find a boat to buy, it never even occurred to us that we wouldn’t be able to find a slip (even dry dock). I’ve called ten places, and most just offered to put me on the wait list for next year, or the year after.

The boat comes with a trailer, so now I’m thinking of buying a used Ford F-150 just so I can trailer the boat around. If you give a mouse a cookie....

Your problems are typical and pretty much a result of the pandemic. People not flying on vacation, cruising, etc..."Hey honey, let's buy a boat and do the lake."
Summer of 2019 for us. Pick of boats, pick of slips, motel we stay regularly was $67-78 per night.
Summer of 2020: Hard to find boats, very few slips, motel (new owners) was $84 per night.
Summer of 2021: Waiting list on boats, long waiting list on slips, same motel is $99 per night.

You need the casino to build one on the lake

Yep, bought a used Ford F-150 with 187k miles just to haul the boat. Happy I’ll be able to bring it to different lakes, etc., though. Husband won’t stop teasing me about my two ton boat accessory.

Keep an eye on the transmission. Our first boat was pulled by a SUV with over 180k miles. By the next year, I could tell a difference in the transmission changing gears. I sold it while I could get something for it and purchased bigger SUV with less mileage.
