When we look at rentals on VRBO, places that "sleep" 20, are usually comfortable for maybe 8 people.Table Rockin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 11:13 pm The thing is these places sleep like 20 or more people. Who vacations with that many? How many family reunions can there be?

Everyone I know local to me that winters in that area or has moved down there does not have a boat or even knows how to boat. If it werent for this forum I wouldnt even know about lake life down there. I probably knew 20 people down there give or take. Like YT says you have 3 types of people; those near the lake, those next to the lake ie beaches, fishing and those on the lake (I think it goes something like that).Table Rockin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 9:40 am
You must have be an experienced TRL boater to remember the Chateau getting built. It was already there in the mid 80s. I'm fine with reasonable development but honestly I cant imagine the need for all these rental houses. See pics. This is the area around where BBP is talking about and this represents only one of these types of developments going on right now. There are at least 6-7 other areas getting developed just like this. The real kicker is most of these have neither courtesy docks or direct lake access. My guess is one of these days these resorts will fail and these will get sold off as individual homes. Is there really that much demand for rental without lake access or docks?
I prefer not to see anymore people on the lake down there and even less surf boats, my boat gets beat up bad enough in the slip we rent for a week the way it is.
But this is where the regatta is held in the chateau arm and you can see more of those rental houses just above the tree line going up. I don't see why you would rent that but I'm a in the lake type guy. That Dustin was trying to explain.
Those subdivisions too me are just horrible. 1 here and there ok but not all over like it's starting to be.

Agreed but in these cases there are 8+ BRs so it’s legit 20+ peopleKrob1114 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 4:08 amWhen we look at rentals on VRBO, places that "sleep" 20, are usually comfortable for maybe 8 people.Table Rockin wrote: ↑Thu Mar 24, 2022 11:13 pm The thing is these places sleep like 20 or more people. Re: Table rock lake
I have been boating TRL since 1978. The development has been something I have not enjoyed. The lake was so much nicer before all the ugly subdivisions and condos. Seems each year it gets worse. LOTO is closer for me but we dont boat there because of the crowds. TRL is getting to be much like LOTO.Table Rockin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 9:40 amYou must have be an experienced TRL boater to remember the Chateau getting built. It was already there in the mid 80s. I also don't care for the Chateau hotel. It permanently changed the character of the lake.

About 30 years ago when we rented a houseboat for 3 years in a row. Stayed in the old Kimberling Inn. We tried to get the rooster tail to hit the Kimberling Bridge

Re: Table rock lake
So will this rock feature now be private property and no one can swim or dive from there?
That's what happened to the best jumping rock on Winnipesaukee. The land was bought up and developed with 5k+ square foot mansions and is now off limits. Well, for 20 years now actually.
Wish I was around to experience it before the development. Used to be a sweet 40' jumping spots and a few lower ones. I'll grab pictures in a few weeks

Re: Table rock lake
Well to be fair we aren’t even close to LOTO yet and really we won’t ever be because there are only so many places you can house a 40’+ boat. The washing machine swirl of 6’ wakes on the main channel of LOTO would be a risky proposition for most of the boats you see on TRL.
I’m in the process of building a house on IP so can’t complain too much about the development. The amazing thing to me still is that these places have no water access! I still say that’s nuts…..as an investor or owner.

Re: Table rock lake
I remember growing up in the 70’s on TRL, seeing a houseboat was a rarity, when you did it was 30’ or less. Grew up in Bearsley Cove. Heck the State park marina only had two docks back then.

Re: Table rock lake
Those pictures were right around 89. 52 ft houseboat. We rented it 3 years in a row and we went a different direction each year and towed 3 runabouts along side of it each year it was great. It was some of the best skiing years of my life. The water was warm and smooth. As you can tell I will never forget those times. We docked it on the pizza hut 30 ft dock. Lol

Re: Table rock lake
Nice to see the old pics. The guy on the far left of old pic looks just like one of my best friends in Ft. Lauderdale, around the same time frame.
My daughter sees pics of wife and I when we were young, skinny, and good looking: Don't know if she's happy to see them or worried what she'll look like in 30 years!
