Not a good day at Lake Texoma (Mar 21)

Had a tornado (not yet verified, but extensive damage to houses and trailers further to the NE)

This is (was) the south end of the dock where my slip was, at Buncombe Creek

and my slip was in the upper left corner of this picture... just left of the tritoon
that was pushed over the walkway in back of the slips.

Fortunately, my boat is still in dry storage, and I hear that that facility was not damaged.

They aren't letting anyone into the area.... rescue operations still underway.

Oh wow OL. That’s some tough damage. Hopefully no one was injured. Thanks for giving us an update.
Who is your insurance carrier?

Texas can't catch a break. Move up north!

No fatalities reported in Oklahoma, so far. Several injuries. Considering the pictures
and videos of the destruction, that's better than it might have been.

Aslan7, insurance carrier is Progressive Northern, but I don't know if it covers the
lift or not... probably not... it's boat insurance. It didn't occur to me to get insurance
on the lift. My insurance agent's office is on the east side of Kingston, and that area
sustained severe damage... several buildings are just gone. No power in the area,
and no estimates of when they'll have it restored.

BB, I am up north! (of Texas). Just not far enough north, yesterday. Buncombe Creek
is on the Oklahoma side.

I never thought of insuring a lift. But we bought a used lift, so I guess I'm saving money by thinking of it as self insured.

I wonder if the lift can be insured as an extension of your homeowners insurance.

Got a great deal on this <used> lift... 10,000 lb capacity.. probably can't replace it
with a new one for 4 times the price. I'll be looking for another used one, but I bet
they''ll be in short supply around Texoma for a while...

I bought used because we purchased new Cobalt off show room floor and wait time on new lift was 6-8 weeks.
I didn't want boat sitting in water that long.

Got a good aerial shot. That's my lift (upside down) just below the walkway out
to the dock. My slip was the first one to the right as you came onto the dock.
Wind lifted the whole thing and flipped it backwards (right-to-left) over the
backside of the dock... took my lift with it. The floats are brown on the bottom,
from the grunge and growth in Lake Texoma... they were blue on top.

Feel for the owner of that capsized tritoon

So, my lift is out of the water, now. Haven't had anyone look at it, yet,
to see if it's salvageable.

Several others have been dragged up on shore.. most look worse than mine.
They haven't announced and expected date for re-opening the marina, or the
boat ramp, even.

The good news is that my homeowners policy probably covers the lift.
Don't know how that'll come out after deductible, and the loss of my
"no claims" discount, but we'll see. Gotta have a slip to put a lift in,
and don't know how long it's going to take until BCM can re-build.
There's a waiting list for slips anywhere close to where I'm located.

At least I'll have a boat to put in the slip, when the time comes.
A lot of folks weren't that lucky.
