How much load are marine engines under when operating at cruising speed? The majority of OEM forced induction engines run turbos instead of s/c, I think they are generally more efficient and need less maintenance. At cruising speed though, a FI car engine isn't making boost. Wondering if a marine engine would be constant making boost or just when accelerating.

That was my concern too - because a boat engine is under relatively heavy load whenever the boat is moving, you may unreasonably accelerate wear on the engine by supercharging or turbocharging it. The percentage of time a car is accelerating heavily/under similar load is comparatively small.
