trailer compatability

Post by 84 Ed »

I have a 2010 Cobalt 232. I would like to order a a Sport Trail trailer. They only make trailers for boats they already have a jig for, to my understanding.

I know they built a trailer for an R3 (2017, I think).

Does anyone know if the hull shapes are compatible?

Anyone know the R3 length, not counting the swim platform ?

thanks !

I think what our friend BBP is trying to say is that trailers are generally built for specific boats. While you may think a 232 looks a lot like an R3 in fact the dimensions of the hulls are different.

I would call loadmaster and ask them to quote a trailer. They provided us several good options when we were looking for a trailer for our 222. Eagle and Heritage also make nice stuff if they are closer to you. Both provide trailers to cobalt dealers so I cant believe they would not have dimensions on your exact boat.

Spending money on a custom trailer only to have it be setup for the wrong boat....well I guess if you want...but I wouldn't, and more importantly I dont think BBP would either. And you don't question BBP.

I believe he posts here from time to time. If I remember correctly he sells maxis tires and box anchors as a side hustle.

Good to hear from you as well A7. Hope all is well.

Oh this thread just made my night. Good to hear from you all. And Cmattj should be waking up soon on the Left coast.

Now if we can get our senior ranking member to chime in, the cyber universe will be complete.
Yes the turtle & snake comment should bring him out of Rochester hibernation.

I like the idea personally.

Probably save a few hundo over a 232 trailer.
Even if the chines don’t line up, and it rest on the bunks it will be easier to get on the one side.

Some trailer companies do a roller wheel bunk, so maybe ask if that’s available?

I like it - forget the roller wheel bunk - we live in a world of supply chain madness and its almost lake season. Just ask them to ship you whatever trailer they can get you first, R3, R5, Rinker, Bayliner whatever.

Coat those bunks /w a can or 12 of this an that 232 will slide right on! Its a foolproof plan. What can possibly go wrong?
