Our new ( first ) Cobalt has arrived!
Hi All
We purchased a 2016 R5 a few weeks ago and it is now safely tied up to our jetty after being anti-fouled. We live near the mouth of the Murray river in South Australia where the water is kept mostly fresh by a set of barrages that keep the tidal salt water out of the river and lake systems. Still, as the boat will be permanently in the water, we decided to go with anti-fouling to keep the growth at bay and help prevent osmosis of the hull.
We bought the boat over the internet without seeing it in the flesh and relied on a professional survey to catch any issues. So far all seems fine, albeit that we missed out on the handover from the dealer and so it will take a little while to figure a few things out.
The forecast here is 20kt winds easing to 10kts on Saturday morning before going back up again. If the rain holds off we hope to get out in the morning to go exploring.
I'll post some images when I figure out how to
Cheers
Mike and Tricia

That darker color interior with seagrass instead of carpet looks really sharp, especially for a boat that's a bit older. Congrats on the boat, and let us know once you get it out on the water!

Looks nice - can never go wrong with a white boat and black bootsrtipe - a classic look. Even the bottom paint does not look bad on white like that -- looks like you have propspeed on the propellers also.

Thank you!
I think I might like your winters, at least for short while - we have pretty boring mild weather here; perhaps a bit hot in summer but definitely no snow in winter! Perhaps the nearest comparison might be coastal weather in southern California.
I'm told October and November are the windy months here so not sure how often we will get out. Pretty much since last Saturday we have had daily 20-30 kt winds with the highest gust around 45 kts. Our whips have gotten quite a work out but have held up so far and have done a good job keeping the boat off the jetty fenders with just the occasional soft touch.
The water levels have been all over the place as well. We have a large ( 80 km x 30 km or so ) shallow lake to the east of us and when we have strong winds the water in the lake tends to move to one side or the other, either draining or filling our lagoon. Nothing like tides of course - maybe around 2-3 ft range most of the time.
On one morning, during a lull in the winds after a stormy night, we had water over our lower deck for the first time. After a wind shift though it quickly dropped a couple feet back to a more normal level.
He have a good forecast for the weekend so hopefully we will get out and get some underway photos to share
