We just use the ski pylon in the back of the boat.
Not a chance I would ever tow from a tower. My tube will stop my boat dead in it's Tracks and stall the BB. Mine had warning stickers on it.Titaniumboy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 10:47 pm We have always towed a tube from the tower. We were also concerned at first whether the tower was sturdy enough for tubing.
So we asked the dealer and the Cobalt factory whether we were doing it wrong. The answer came back that the tower was designed for tube towing. Did they fib to us?
I have always been told by several manufacturers reps, the ski tow ring is for water skiing only. A tube creates way too much force and will rip that ring out of the boat.Big Block Power wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 7:44 pm Does your boat have the ski tow ring on the transom? Use that.

Pretty universal warning in most of the Cobalt manuals these days....

I take anything my dealer / sales person says with with a grain of salt, in my years of buying cars and boats I've found that 90% of the time I know more than the guy that works at the dealer. Most of the time it's just a job they do and they haven't put in any time studying the thing they are selling. I do like my dealer where we buy our boats from and they really know their stuff which is why I've done business with them, but it's always good to verify. I remember shopping for a truck and being told "Sure! this f150 will tow 10,000 lbs no problem!!!"Titaniumboy wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 10:47 pm We have always towed a tube from the tower.
